Examine the pylon rear attachment and adjacent structure for:
-cracks
-damaged paint and sealant
-distortion
-correct condition of all fasteners and safety devices.

B. Installation of the Pylon Rear Attachment Bearing
WARNING : DO NOT GET THE COMPOUND ON YOUR SKIN.

IF YOU DO:
-RUB IT OFF IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN CLOTH
-WASH THE SKIN WITH SOAP AND RINSE WITH CLEAN WATER.
(1) Apply SEALANTS (Material No. 09-005) to the interface of the bearing
(4) and the pylon rear attachment.
NOTE : The sealant must still be wet when you install the bearing (4)

in the pylon attachment.
(2) Install the bearing (4), or a new bearing (4) if applicable, in the pylon rear attachment (3).
NOTE : The bearing (4) must be installed from the front.

Install the new tab washer (2). Make sure that the internal tag of the washer (2) is engaged in the slot on the bearing (4).
(4)
If the slotted nut (1) was found to be damaged, replace it with a new slotted nut (1).
NOTE : Put a small bend in the tabs of the tab washer (2) before you
____ install the slotted nut (1). This will make it easier to bend the tabs when you subsequently lock the slotted nut.
(5)
Install the slotted nut (1) on the bearing (4) with the chamfered face against the tab washer (2).
(6)
Hold the bearing (4) with the SPANNER - PYLON PICK-UP (98D57004027000). TORQUE the slotted nut (1) with the SOCKET - PYLON PICK-UP (98D57004026000) to between 15 and 21 m.daN (110.61 and
154.86 lbf.ft).

Safety the slotted nut (1) with the tab washer (2).

Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(2)
Install the applicable aft attach fitting (Ref. TASK 54-51-17-400-002).

(1)
Remove the TOOL-ZERO LOCKING, FLAP SLAT CTL LEVER (98D27803500001) from the flap/slat control lever.
(2)
Remove the safety barriers.
(3)
Remove the warning notice(s).
(4)
Remove the access platform(s).
(5)
Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
