 While the sealant is wet, put the applicable sealing ring (2) or (3) (flat edge down) into the groove in the access panel assembly (1):

for the panels 540AB, 540BB, 540CB, (640AB, 640BB, 640CB) use sealing ring (2)

 -
for the panels 540DB, 540EB, 540FB, 540GB, (640DB, 640EB, 640FB, 640GB) use sealing ring (3).

 NOTE : Let the sealant dry for a minimum of 15 minutes before you

 install the panel.

 Make sure the applicable knitted gasket (4) or (5) is sufficiently soaked with COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-013):

 -
for the panels 540AB, 540BB, 540CB, (640AB, 640BB, 640CB) use the knitted gasket (4)

 -
for the panels 540DB, 540EB, 540FB, 540GB, (640DB, 640EB, 640FB, 640GB) use the knitted gasket (5).

 Put the applicable knitted gasket (4) or (5) on the access panel outer (6).

 (5)
 Align the holes in the applicable knitted gasket (4) or (5) with the holes in the access panel outer (6).

R C. Installation of the Access Panel
 (1) Make sure that all of the bonding leads are in position and connected correctly. Make sure that they are not damaged or broken and show no sign of corrosion (Ref. TASK 28-00-00-200-001), (Ref. TASK 28-00-00-200-001).

_______ SEQUENCE. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ACCESS PANEL.
R (2) Apply a thin layer of SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-002) to the R bolts (7). Apply to the shank, the threads and below the head of each
 bolt (7).
 (3)
 Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and equipment before you install the access panel assembly (1).

 (4)
 Remove the identification label from the access panel assembly (1).

 (5)
 Apply a light coating of COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-012) to the mating face of the sealing ring on the access panel assembly (1).

 (6)
 Put the access panel assembly (1) in position on the wing. Make sure that the access panel assembly and its sealing ring do not move after they are put in position.

 (7)
 Install the applicable knitted gasket (4) or (5) and the access panel outer (6).

 NOTE : Make sure that grease does not enter the bolt holes in the
____ access panels, as a hydraulic effect can occur.
 (8)
 Loosely install the bolts (7). CAUTION : YOU MUST TIGHTEN AND TORQUE THE BOLTS IN THE CORRECT

_______ SEQUENCE TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS.

 (9)
 Lightly tighten each bolt (7) (to make sure that the access panel cannot tilt and damage the sealing ring when the bolts are fully torque tightened).

 (10) TORQUE tighten the bolts (7) in the sequence A thru AF to between 60 and 70 lbf.in (0.67 and 0.79 m.daN).
 NOTE : The access panels (1) do not have the same quantity of bolts
____ (7), but the sequence shown is the same.
 (11) TORQUE tighten the bolts (7) in the sequence A thru AF again to between 60 and 70 lbf.in (0.67 and 0.79 m.daN).

R  (12) Make sure that the maximum in-to-wind or out-of-wind dimension (between the access panel outer (6) and the wing skin) is between: - +1.0 mm (+0.0393 in.) and -1.0 mm (-0.0393 in.) along the long axis - +0.5 mm (+0.0196 in.) and -0.5 mm (-0.0196 in.) along the short axis. 
R  (13) Make sure that the dimension X is between 0.5 mm (0.0196 in.) and 2.5 mm (0.0984 in.). 
R  (14) Do a bonding test (Ref. TASK 20-28-00-912-002). Make sure that the electrical resistance is less than 10 milliohms: - between the access panel outer (6) and the wing skin - between the access panel outer (6) and the access panel assembly (1).
