B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1)
Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
(2)
Make sure the aircraft has been defuelled (Ref. TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(3)
Make sure that the applicable fuel tank has been drained (Ref. TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
(4)
Make sure that the applicable access panel 540AB(640AB) is removed (Ref. TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-000-001).
(5)
Make sure the access platform is in position below the wing fuel tank, zone 540(640).
(6)
To install the forward fuel-surge access panel:
-make sure the aft fuel-surge access panel is held open with HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS)
(7)
To install the aft fuel-surge access panel:
-make sure the forward fuel-surge access panel is held open with HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS)

A. Preparation of a Replacement Component
WARNING : USE SOLVENTS/CLEANING AGENTS, SEALANTS AND OTHER SPECIAL
_______ MATERIALS ONLY WITH A GOOD SUPPLY OF AIR. OBEY THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS. PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. DO NOT GET THEM IN YOUR MOUTH. DO NOT SMOKE. DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS. THESE MATERIALS ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE AND SKIN IRRITANT. GET MEDICAL HELP IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED.
(1)
Use a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003), made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004) to clean the interface of the hinges (8) and the fuel-surge access panel (22).
(2)
Apply a layer of SEALANTS (Material No. 09-024):
-to the interface of the hinges (8) and the fuel-surge access panel
(22)
-under the bolt-heads and on the plain part of the bolts (21).
(3)
Attach the hinges (8) to the fuel-surge access panel (22) with the bolts (21) and the nuts (20).
(4)
Use a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003), made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004) to clean:
-
the bolt heads (21) and the area around them
-
the nuts (20) and the threaded end of the bolts (21).
(5)
Apply a layer of SEALANTS (Material No. 09-024) to:
-
the bolt heads (21)
-
the nuts (20) and the threaded end of the bolts (21).
(6)
Attach the springs (13) to the hinges (8) with the bolts (12), the washers (11), the bobbins (10), the spacers (9), the washers (14) and the nuts (15).

B. Preparation for Installation
(1)
Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004).
(2)
If applicable, install the new seal (23).
(a)
Use a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003), made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004) to clean the interface of the surge-door access panel (22) and the seal (23).
(b)
Bond the seal (23) to the cover (22) with BONDING AND ADHESIVE COMPOUNDS (Material No. 08-006B).
NOTE : The ribbed face of the seal (23) is on the flat side of
____
the surge-door access-panel.
(3)
Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(4)
Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.

C. Installation of the Fuel-surge Access Panel
(1)
Attach the fuel-surge access panel (22) to the brackets (3) with the hinge pins (4), the washers (2) and the nuts (1).
(2)
Make sure that the fuel-surge access panel (22) can move freely on the hinge pins (4).
(3)
Attach the springs (13) to the brackets (5) with the bolts (19), the washers (18), the bobbins (17), the spacers (16), the washers (6) and the nuts (7).
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
(1)
Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(2)
Remove the applicable tool:
-
remove the tool HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) from the aft fuel-surge access panel and close it.
-
remove the tool HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) from the forward fuel-surge access panel and close it.
