Assemble the bearing housing-halves (9) and the bearing (8) together. Make sure that the identification groove in the bearing (8) is adjacent to the flange of the bearing-housing assembly (7).

Use the SOCKET-RING (FOR NUT OF FWD PINTLE BEARING) (98D57004003000) to install the bearing-housing assembly (7) in the forward pintle fitting.
(10)
TORQUE the bearing-housing assembly (7) to 5.6 m.daN (41.29 lbf.ft).
(11)
Make sure that the joint line of the bearing housing-halves (9) is not more than 20 degrees from the aircraft horizontal (DIM 'X').
(12)
If the DIM 'X' is more than 20 degrees, do these steps:
(a)
Remove the bearing-housing assembly (7).
(b)
Remove laminations from the shim (1) as necessary. Make sure that the shim has no more than a maximum thickness of 1 mm (0.04 in.).
NOTE : Each lamination has a thickness of 0.05 mm (0.0019 in.).

(c)
Install the shim (1).
(d)
Install the bearing-housing assembly (7).
(e)
TORQUE the bearing-housing assembly (7) to 8.6 m.daN (63.42 lbf.ft).
(f)
Do a check of DIM 'X' again.

When the DIM 'X' is correct, remove the bearing-housing assembly (7).
(14)
Clean the threads of the retaining nut (11) with a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026).
(15)
Apply a thin layer of SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-002) to the last two threads of the retaining nut (11) (DIM 'Z').
(16)
Fill the space between the retaining nut (11) and the bush (12) with COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-004).

B. Installation of the Bearing Assembly
(1)
Install the bearing-housing assembly (7).
(2)
TORQUE the bearing-housing assembly (7) to 5.6 m.daN (41.29 lbf.ft).

Install the locking ring (5). Make sure that the chamfer of the locking ring (5) is against the forward pintle fitting.
(4)
Clean the edge of the locking ring (5) and the adjacent surface of the pintle fitting with a clean MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026).
(5)
Put a bead of SEALANTS (Material No. 09-002) around the edge of the locking ring (5).
(6)
Install the four new O-ring seals (6) for the four greasers (2) in the seal assembly (4).
(7)
Install the seal assembly (4) with the ten bolts (3).
(8)
Safety the bolts (3) with lockwire, corrosion resistant steel 0.8 mm
