Procedure

 CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY.
_______ IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS, DAMAGE TO THE APU CAN OCCUR.
 (1)
Do these steps to install the fuel metering unit (1):

 (a)
Lubricate the new packing (4) with a light coat of fuel.

 (b) (c) (d)  Install the packing (4) on the nipple (3).Install the nipple (3) on the regulator sleeve of the fuel metering unit (1).While you hold the regulator sleeve in position, tighten the nipple (3) to 65-75 inch-pounds (7.3-8.5 newton-meters).
 NOTE:____ Use an open-end wrench on the nut of the regulator sleeve to hold the regulator sleeve in position while you tighten the nipple (3).
 (e) (f) (g) (h) (i) (j) (k) (l)  Lubricate the new packing (10) with a light coat of fuel.Install the nut (8) and a new ring (9) on the elbow (7).Install the packing (10) and then the elbow (7) (with the nut (8) and ring (9)) on the fuel metering unit (1).Tighten the nut (8) with your fingers.Lubricate the two new packings (11) with a light coat of fuel.Install the two packings (11) on the fuel metering unit (1).Put the fuel metering unit (1) on the fuel metering adapter.Install the fuel metering unit (1) and bracket with its attaching parts on the fuel metering adapter with the four bolts (13), seven washers (12) and four nuts (14).
 NOTE:____ It is not necessary to install a washer (12) between the bolt (13) and bracket with its attaching parts.
 (m) (n)  1) Tighten the four nuts (14) to 85-95 inch-pounds (9.6-10.7 newton-meters).Connect the fuel pressure tube (2) to the nipple (3).While you hold the nipple (3) in position, tighten the coupling nut on the fuel pressure tube (2) to 90-100 inch-pounds (10.2-11.3 newton-meters).
 NOTE:____ Use an open-end wrench on the nipple (3) to hold the nipple in position while you tighten the coupling nut on the fuel pressure tube (2).
 (o) (p) (q)  Connect the fuel pressure tube (6) to the elbow (7).While you hold the fuel pressure tube (6) and elbow (7) in position, tighten the coupling nut on the fuel pressure tube to 270-300 inch-pounds (30.5-33.9 newton-meters).While you hold the fuel pressure tube (6) and elbow (7) in position, tighten the nut (8) to 70-80 inch-pounds (7.9-9.0 newton-meters).
 NOTE:____ Use an open-end wrench on the coupling nut of the fuel pressure tube (6) or the flat side of the elbow (7) to hold the fuel pressure tube and elbow in position while you tighten the nut (8).

 (r)  Do these steps to connect the electrical connector D95004 (P4) (5) to the fuel metering unit (1): 1) Connect the electrical connector D95004 (P4) (5) to the
 fuel metering unit (1).
 2)  Tighten the coupling ring on the electrical connector D95004 (P4) (5) until the electrical connector is at the bottom of the receptacle and the connection is tight.
 3)  Make sure the electrical connection is not loose when you move the APU harness.

 F.  Fuel Metering Unit Installation Test

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:

 (a)  
P6-2 Main Power Distribution Panel
 1) 6K18, APU ALTN CONT

 (b)  
P83 Aft APU Equipment Control and Circuit Breaker Panel 1) APU PRIME CONT

Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the APU control switch on the P5 overhead panel.
