(b) If the center of the starter motor brushes is less than 0.06 inch (1.5 mm), replace the starter motor (AMM 49-41-01/401).

Do these steps to install the window strap on the starter motor:
(a)
Put the window strap on the starter motor.
(b)
Put the lug of the window strap in the hook of the terminal block assembly.
(c)
Put the T-bolt and nut on the other lug of the window strap. 1) Tighten the nut with your hand.
(d)
Install the locknut on the T-bolt.
1) Tighten the locknut.

Do these steps to connect the two terminal leads to the starter motor:
(a)
Connect the two terminal leads to the two terminals with the six washers and two nuts.
NOTE: The starter motor has no positive or negative terminals.
____ You can connect each terminal lead to one of the two terminals.
(b)
Tighten the two nuts to 88-106 inch-pounds (9.9-12.0 newton-meters).

Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:
(a)
P6-2 Main Power Distribution Panel
1) 6K18, APU ALTN CONT
(b)
P83 Aft APU Equipment Control and Circuit Breaker Panel 1) APU PRIME CONT

Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the APU control switch on the P5 overhead panel.

Close the left APU access door, 317AL, and right APU access door, 318AR:
(a)
Remove the two quick-release pins, disconnect the two hold-open rods and put the two hold-open rods in the two clips on the right access door.
(b)
Install the two quick-release pins in the two brackets on the right APU compartment bulkhead.

(c) Lift the right access door until you can install the lanyard on the pin at the aft APU compartment bulkhead.
NOTE:____ The lanyard will hold the right access door on the APU compartment bulkhead.
(d) Remove the two quick-release pins, disconnect the two hold-open rods and put the two hold-open rods in the two clips on the left access door.
(e) (f) (g) (h) (i) Install the two quick-release pins in the two brackets on the left APU compartment bulkhead.Make sure the insulation covers are correctly attach to the APU compartment firewall.Lift the left access door until the two APU access doors are approximately aligned.Close the two APU access doors.Close the six latches on the right access door.
