Prepare for Installation

 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE WHEEL THAT YOU INSTALL IS FROM THE SAME
_______ MANUFACTURER AS THE BRAKE. DAMAGE CAN OCCUR IF YOU INSTALL A WHEEL FROM A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER THAN THE BRAKE.
 (1)  
Do a check of the tire and wheel (AMM 32-45-00/601).

 S 094-040

 (2)  
Remove the axle protector from the axle.

 S 214-016

 (3)  
Do a check on the axle.

 S 224-017

 (4)  
If the axle threads have nicks, burrs or damaged threads, do a dimensional check on the axle and the axle nut (AMM 32-11-85/601).

 CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY GREASE TO THE AREA BETWEEN THE AXLE BEARINGS.
_______ HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THIS AREA DURING A LANDING CAN CAUSE ALL GREASE IN THIS AREA TO BURN. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO WHEELS, TIRES, AND BRAKES.
 (5)  
Lubricate the inner and the outer wheel bearing and the grease seals with Aeroshell 22 grease.

 (6)  
Do a check and align the brake disks if it is necessary.

 (7)  
Do a check on the wheel if it needs the use of an inflation valve extension kit on the outboard wheels.

 G.  Install the Main Gear Wheel
 S 494-020
 (1) Make sure the thread protector is installed.
 S 424-021
 (2) Install the inner wheel bearing, the grease seal and the retaining
 ring in the inboard side of the wheel.

 (3) Put the wheel assembly (which is on the dolly) in its position and
 ú  move the wheel assembly onto the brake and the axle.
 ú
 ú  NOTE: Make sure the rotor drive keys on the wheel fully engage the____
 ú  key slots in the brake rotors.
 ú

 (4) Install the outer wheel bearing.
 S 424-035
 (5) On some airplanes, install the outer grease seal and the retaining
 clip.

 (6) Remove the thread protector from the axle thread.

 (7) Install the washer.
 NOTE: Make sure you install the washer with the outer tapered____
 diameter into the wheel bearing (with the locking holes on
 the outboard side of the washer).

 (8) Release the parking brake.

 (9) Lubricate the threads with grease and install the axle nut.
