Adjust the steering cables wheel steering system consists of rigging the nose wheel steering cables. You can adjust the steering system to operate the steering metering valve by the steering wheel or the rudder pedal steering. In general, it is necessary to adjust the cables when the tension values deviate from the values given in Table I more than +15/-5 pounds. You must let the cable temperatures to become stable at least 1 hour before you try to adjust and/or check the cable tension.

Prepare to Adjust the Steering System of the Rudder Pedal

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THE GROUND LOCK PINS ARE INSTALLED ON ALL THE LANDING
_______ GEAR. WITHOUT THE GROUND LOCK PINS, THE LANDING COULD RETRACT AND CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  
If the groundlock pins are not installed on all the landing gear, do this task: Install the ground lock assemblies (AMM 32-00-01/201).

 (2)  
Remove the pressure from the hydraulic system A (AMM 29-15-00/201).

Align the marker on the steering collar with the marker on the steering collar bearing to adjust the nose wheels.

_______ THE LEADING EDGE SLATS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY (UNLESS YOU CAN PREVENT) DURING MAINTENANCE WHEN ONE OF THE TWO HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS IS PRESSURIZED AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS ARE IN POSITION 1, 2 OR 5. AND ALSO, IF THE AIR/GROUND RELAYS CAN SENSE AN AIRBORNE CONDITION. ANY MOVEMENT OF THE LEADING SLATS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
 (4)  
Open the AIR/GND circuit breaker of the NOSE LANDING GEAR on the P6 panel.

Disconnect the idler link from the eccentric crank on the steering mechanism of the rudder pedal.

Safety the clutch arm until the arm will not touch the cam followers on the eccentric crank.

Make sure you align the index marks on the steering actuator of the rudder pedal in 5 degrees or less.

Prepare to Tighten the Cables NGPPA and NGPPB.

 0.50 | 0.05 inch at the turnbuckle is 16 - 22 pounds (as measured with a spring scale).
 NOTE: It is not necessary to do an initial extension of the cables
