 (6)  S 424-034Install the fasteners to hold the housing assembly to the wheel well structure.
 (7)  S 424-016Go to the wheel well and install components on the quadrant shaft as shown in the steps that follow.
 (8)  S 644-017Lubricate the spline surfaces of these components with a thin layer of grease: (a) The quadrant shaft. (b) The lever assembly for the metering valve. (c) The lever assembly for the feel augmentor.
 (9)  S 424-018Put the lever for the brake metering valve on the shaft and push it up to engage the mating splines on the quadrant shaft.

 Put the lower sleeve on the quadrant shaft and push it up until it touches the lever assembly.

 Install the nut that holds the lever assembly and the sleeve on the shaft as follows:

 (a)  
Apply a thin layer of corrosion preventive compound to the mating threads of the quadrant shaft and the nut.

 (b)  
Put the nut and washer on the quadrant shaft untill the nut engages the threaded surface on the shaft.

 (c)  
Tighten the nut to 30 to 36 pound-inches.

 (d)  
Install lockwire and a cotter pin.

Connect control cables LGBA1 LGBA2, LGBB1, and LGBB2 to the control quadrant assembly.

 A. This procedure has two tasks:
 (1)  
The removal of the brake metering valve for the main landing gear

 (2)  
The installation of the brake metering valve for the main landing gear.

 2. Brake Metering Valve Removal

 A. General
 (1)  
You can do this task to remove one of the primary metering valves from the left or the right side.

 (2)  
You can also use this task to remove one of the alternate metering valves.

 (3)  
You must remove the brake feel augmentor from the primary metering valve before you remove the primary metering valve from the airplane.
