Adjust the upper trunnion locknut (1) to get approximately 0.01 inch clearance between the bottom of the rod end and the lower bushing in the steering collar.
NOTE: Zero torque on lower trunnion locknut.

(d) Tighten the lower trunnion locknut (15) 180 to 200 inch-pounds. 1) Loosen to zero, then tighten 90 to 100 inch-pounds.

(e) If it is necessary, adjust the upper (1), and the lower (15) trunnion locknuts to get the final clearance of 0.001 to 0.003 inch between the bottom of the rod end and the lower bushing in the steering collar lug.
NOTE:____ Loosen and tighten the upper and the lower trunnion locknuts equally to maintain the torque while adjusting.
(f) Tighten the nut for the steering cylinder attach bolt (AMM 32-51-61/401).
(5) S 434-056Bend a washer tab fully into one of the slots in the nut.
NOTE:____ If it is necessary, turn the locknuts to line up a slot with the next available washer tab.
(6) S 824-082Turn the torsion link and the steering collar to approximately 55 degrees to the left.
(7) S 434-046Install the attach bolt (9) of the cable guard to attach the right cable guard (8) to the upper support plate (4).
(8) S 824-113Adjust the right cable guard (8) to clear the pulley by 0.015 to 0.045 inch. (a) If it is necessary, use a maximum of two washers (BACW10P635) to align the bottom of the cable guard with the bottom of the cable quadrant.
(9) S 714-045Turn the torsion link and the steering collar to approximately 110 degrees to the right.
