 Remove and discard the defective seal (1) from the panel (3).

 Clean the panel with a lint-free cloth and the CLEANING AGENTS
 (Material No. 11-003) to remove the remaining adhesive.

 Clean the new seal (1) with soap and hot water, and let it dry.

 (5)
 Put the seal (1) in its correct position at the edge of the panel
 (3).

 (6)
 If necessary, cut the seal (1) to its correct length.

 (7)
 Hold the seal (1) in position and put marks on it to align with the rivet holes in the panel (3).

 Remove the seal (1) and make the holes for the rivets (4).

 (9)
 Make the surface of the panel (3) rough with the emery cloth, grade

 180.
 NOTE : Be careful that you do not damage the surface of the panel

 Lightly rub the mating surface of the seal (1) with the emery cloth, grade 120 to 240.

 Clean the mating surfaces of the seal (1) and the panel (3) with a lint-free cloth and the CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-003).

 Apply a thin layer of the primer of the BONDING AND ADHESIVE COMPOUNDS (Material No. 08-004) or the BONDING AND ADHESIVE COMPOUNDS (Material No. 08-004A) to the surface of the panel (3).

 (13) Let the primer dry for not less than one hour, and not more than six hours.
 NOTE : If after six hours you have not installed the seal (1), you

 must remove the cured primer and apply new primer.

 Use a spatula to apply a layer of the adhesive of the BONDING AND ADHESIVE COMPOUNDS (Material No. 08-004) or the BONDING AND ADHESIVE COMPOUNDS (Material No. 08-004A).

 Make sure that air bubbles do not show. Air bubbles are not permitted.

 (16)
 Put the seal (1) in position, and align the holes in the seal (1) with the pre-drilled holes in the panel (3).

 NOTE : You must install the seal (1) on the panel (3) in less than

 ten minutes from when you applied the adhesive.

 (17) Put the new rivets (4) through the panel (3) and the seal (1), and install new rivet burrs (2) on the tails of the rivets (4).
 CAUTION : DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACES. THE COMPONENTS ARE

 MADE OF CARBONFIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC.

 Install the rivets (4) (Ref. ASRM 514200). Make sure the rivets (4) are flush with the surface of the panel (3).

 (19)
 Make sure that the height of the tails of the rivets (4) plus the thickness of the rivet burrs (2) is less than 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.), as shown.

 (20)
 Apply the STRUCTURE PAINTS (Material No. 16-024A) to the rivet burrs (2), and to the head and the tail of the rivets (4).

 (21)
 Let the STRUCTURE PAINTS (Material No. 16-024A) dry.

 (22)
 Apply the PAINTS FOR DETAIL (INTERNAL AND EXTERN AL) (Material No. 07-006) to the rivet burrs (2), and to the head and the tail of the rivets (4).

 Let the PAINTS FOR DETAIL (INTERNAL AND EXTERN AL) (Material No. 07-006) dry.

 Removal of the sealing (7) and the filler (3):

 Remove the screws (6).

 (b)
 Release the studs (5) with the washers (4).

 Remove the sealing plate (2).

 (d)
 Remove the sealing (7) and the filler (3).

 Preparation of the replacement sealing (7): NOTE : This procedure is only necessary if you install a new sealing

 Temporarily install the new sealing (7) with the sealing plate

 (2) at the panel (1).

 (b)
 Cut the new sealing (7) to agree with the shape and the contour of the initial sealing as shown in the detail 'C'. (Ref. Fig. 418/TASK 53-35-11-991-018)
