 (d)  Install the foreflap actuating cam on the carriage half: 1) Apply a thin layer of the grease on the bolts, the cam and
 the carriage. 2) Install the actuating cam with the bolts. 3) Tighten the bolts to 10-30 pound-inches. 4) Install the cotter pins.

 (2)  
Install the carriage halves (5) and (8) on the torque shaft (4):

 (a)  
Apply a layer of the primer to the bolts.

 (b)  
Before the primer dries, install the carriage halves with the bolts. 1) Install the bolts with the heads in the torque shaft except

 as shown in Fig. 401.

 (c)  
Install the plate (10).

 (d)  
On the outboard carriage, install the inner plate (3).

 (e)  
Install the nuts on the bolts.

 (3)  
Install the foreflap with the toggle assembly aligned with the access hole:

 (a)  
Apply a thick layer of the grease to the surfaces of the pivot roller and the shaft.

 (b)  
Install the spacer on the roller shaft.

 (c)  
Install the roller through the access hole in the foreflap cam.

 (d)  
Install the washer between the foreflap arm and the toggle assembly.

 (e)  
Install the washer and the nut on the roller shaft.

 (f)  
Tighten the nut to 60-85 pound-inches.

 (g)  
Install the cotter pin.

 (4)  Install the gimbal shaft (14) in the torque shaft (4):
 NOTE: An approximately 1/16 inch wide rubber band may be used to
____ help intall the gimbal shaft in the torque tube. Put the rubber band around the bearing ball between the bearing outer race and the bearing retainer washer. The rubber band prevents the movement of the bearing outer race during installation. Do not remove the rubber band form the bearing ball after installation.
 (a)  
Apply a layer of the corrosion preventive compound on the outer diameter of the index plate (12) or the bearing retainer (19).

 (b)  
Install the shims (15) below the index plate (12) or the bearing retainer (19). 1) Make sure you install the same thickness of the shims as

 you removed.

 (c)  
On the outboard gimbal shaft, put the index plate (12) at the correct position.

 (d)  
Install the two gimbal shaft retaining bolts (13).

 (5)  On an outboard carriage, attach the cross beam (17) to the carriage.

 (6)  On the outboard carriage half (5) of the inboard carriage, install
 the pulley and boom roller support (6) and the side roller assembly:
 (a) Install the pulley and boom roller support on the outboard side
 of the carriage half.
 (b) Install the side roller assembly and the shims on the inboard
 side of the carriage half.
 1) Install the side roller assembly with the head of the
 roller pin down.
 2) Apply the primer to the bolts.
 3) Install the bolts with the wet primer.
 4) Install the cotter pins in the two forward bolts.

 (7)  On the inboard carriage half (8) of the inboard carriage or on an
 outboard carriage, install the side roller:
 (a) Install the side roller and the shims with the head of the
 roller pin down.
 (b) Apply the primer to the bolts.
