(b)  
If the torque tube is between the inboard flap outboard transmission and the angle gearbox, connect the flanged connection:

 (c)  
Apply a layer of the sealant to the two flanges.

 1)  Install the torque tube parts with the flange connection 5-inches outboard of the fitting for the inboard ground spoiler.
 2)  Install the three bolts, washers and nuts to connect the flange connection. 3) Apply a layer of the sealant to the bolt, washers and nuts.
 (d)  Attach one end of the torque tube to the coupling: 1) Apply a layer of the grease on the splines of the coupling
 sleeve. 2) Engage the coupling sleeve with the coupling. 3) Install the three screws to attach the coupling sleeve.
 CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL LOCKWIRE ON THE COUPLING SCREWS. IF THE COUPLING SCREWS COME OFF, THE TORQUE TUBE COUPLING WILL DISCONNECT AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE.
 4) Install the lockwire on the heads of the screws.
 (e)  
Move the torque tube until the parts of the coupling touch.

 (f)  
Connect the remaining end of the torque tube to the coupling: 1) Apply a layer of the grease on the splines of the coupling

 sleeve. 2) Engage the coupling sleeve with the coupling. 3) Install the three screws to attach the coupling sleeve. 4) Install the lockwire on the heads of the screws.

 (2) If the torque tube is in the wing, install the torque tube guard.

Remove the support from the flaps.

Do a test of the torque tubes:

 (a)  
Make sure the clearance between the torque tube and all structure and equipment is not less than 0.25 inch.

 (b)  
Examine the seals where the torque tubes go through the inboard flap outboard fairing: 1) Make sure the seals move freely in the seal retainer. 2) Make sure you can get a minimum clearance between the seal

 and the torque tube of 0.05 inch.
 NOTE: The inside diameter of the seal is approximately
____ 0.10-inch larger than the outside diameter of the torque tube.
 (c)  
Pressurize the hydraulic system B (Ref 27-51-00/201).

 (d)  
Move the flap control lever to move the flaps.

 (e)  
Look at the torque tubes when they turn to see if they touch structure or equipment.

 (f)  
Move the flap control lever to the UP detent to retract the flaps.

 (g)  
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system B
 (Ref 27-51-00/201).

 (h)  
Examine the torque tubes to see if they touched structure or equipment when they turned. 1) Adjust the torque tubes if it is necessary.

 (5)  If it is necessary, install the inboard flap track fairing (Ref 27-51-32/401).
