Remove the bolt to disconnect the boom from the structure.

Loosen the cable adjustment nuts and disconnect the cables from the boom cable fittings.

Move the boom aft, off the boom roller.

 (4)  Install the aftflap mechanism boom (Fig. 401):
 (a) Disconnect the two rods from the inboard aftflap.
 (b) Disconnect the forward end of the boom assembly.
 (c) Put the boom in a position to the rear of the boom roller.
 (d) Move the boom forward on the boom roller.
 NOTE: Retract the flaps if it is necessary until you can move____
 the boom forward.

 (5)  Install the boom cables:
 (a) Make sure the boom cables are in the correct position on the
 pulleys.
 (b) Make sure the cable ends are connected to the boom cable
 sockets.
 (c) Install the rig pins F-5 and F-6 through the boom from the
 outboard side to hold the boom roller between the pins.
 (d) Tighten the cable adjustment nuts until the cables are not
 loose.
 (e) Remove the access panel 8403 or 8503 from the forward half of
 the lower surface of the midflap.

 (6)  Adjust the boom cables:
 (a) Tighten the cable adjustment nuts until the cam roller is 0.42
 |0.03 inch from the forward end of the cam slot in the cable
 drum.
 1) If it is not easy to get the 0.42-inch dimension, you can
 use a rigging block.
 a) You can make the rigging block from a 2.25 inch plastic
 (or equivalent) block. The block must have the correct
 shape of the cam slot.
 2) Use the tape to hold the rigging block in the cam slot and
 put the roller against the block.
