Apply a layer of the sealant to the carriage if it is necessary:

 (a)  
Apply a minimum 0.030 inch thick layer of the BMS 5-95 Class B sealant to the carriage.

 (b)  
Permit the sealant to cure.

 (c)  
Apply a layer of the primer and the teflon filled coating on the sealant and the spindle.

 (3)  
Make sure the side rollers are adjusted correctly:

 (a)  
Make sure the two bolts through the mounting bracket on each of the four side rollers are tight.

 (b)  
Make sure the thickness of the shims below the opposite mounting brackets on the carriage are the same.

 (c)  
Make sure the distance between the side rollers is 1.340 to

 1.350 inches.

 (d)  If the distance between the side rollers is not in the tolerance, add or remove the shim laminations below the mounting brackets: 1) Remove the mounting brackets. 2) Add or remove the shims to get the correct dimension. 3) Make sure the thickness of the shims below the opposite
 side rollers is equal. 4) Apply the primer to the shims and the bolts. 5) Install the bolts to attach the mounting bracket. 6) Install the lockwire on the bolts.

 (4)  
Install a new spherical bearing if it is necessary:

 (a)  
Put the bearing in its position on the carriage.

 (b)  
Line ream the bolt hole 0.3750 to 0.3756 inch diameter.

 (c)  
Remove the bearing from the carriage.

 (d)  
Apply a layer of the corrosion preventive compound to the bearing.

 WARNING: USE NITRILE GLOVES FOR SKIN PROTECTION AGAINST
_______ BMS 3-27 (MASTINOX 6856K). IF MASTINOX GETS ON YOUR SKIN, IMMEDIATELY REMOVE IT WITH WATER. IF THIS MATERIAL GETS IN YOUR EYES, IMMEDIATELY FLUSH YOUR EYES WITH WATER AND GET MEDICAL AID. THIS MATERIAL CONTAINS VERY POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE AGENTS WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS.
 CAUTION: REMOVE UNWANTED MASTINOX FROM SURFACES WHICH WILL BE
_______ LUBRICATED AND FROM SURFACES THAT MOVE. YOU CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF MOVING PARTS IF YOU APPLY MASTINOX TO SURFACES THAT MOVE
 (e)  Apply BMS 3-27 (Mastinox 6856K) between the carriage support fitting and the outer race of the spherical bearing.
 NOTE: Apply Mastinox at WBL 254 and WBL 355 on the outboard
____
 flap (AMM 27-51-44/401).

 (f)  
Install the bearing in the midflap.

 (g)  
Apply a thin layer of the BMS 5-95 Class B sealant to seal the bearing to the midflap.

 (h)  
Install the bearing retainer.
 1) Install the four bolts with the heads forward.

 (5)  
Install the carriage in the midflap:

 (a)  
Apply the primer to the surfaces of the carriage spindle and the spherical bearing.

 (b)  
Put the carriage in the flap through the spherical bearing.

Install the spindle bearing on the carriage:

 (a)  
Apply a layer of the sealant to the spindle, and the inner part of the bearing race.

 (b)  
Install the bearing inner race on the spindle.

 (c)  
Clean all excess sealant from the aft end of the spindle.

 (d)  
Install the bearing on the inner race.

 (e)  
Install the washer and the nut on the spindle.

 (f)  
Tighten the nut to 800-1100 pound-inches.

 (g)  
Install the clevis pin through the nut and the spindle. 1) Install the thin washers if it is necessary to align the
