 Adjust the exhaust gate rods (Fig. 506):

 (a)  
Install the rig pin in the FLAP-UP rig pin hole in the exhaust gate actuating mechanism. 1) If you cannot freely install the rig pin, adjust the length

 of the foreflap pushrod:
 a) Remove the foreflap pushrod from the exhaust gate

 actuation mechanism. b) Install the rig pin in the FLAP-UP rig pin hole. c) Adjust the length of the foreflap pushrod. d) Install the foreflap pushrod. e) Tighten the nuts on the each end of the pushrod to
 30-40 pound-inches.
 f) Remove the rig pin.

 (b)  
Make sure the trailing edge of the exhaust gate is 0.00 to 0.15 inch below the trailing edge of the midflap.

 (c)  
If the exhaust gate and the aftflap are not aligned in the limits, adjust the trailing edge of the exhaust gate: 1) Hold the trailing edge of the exhaust gate. 2) Install the rig pin in the FLAP-UP rig pin hole. 3) Remove the exhaust gate pushrod. 4) Adjust the length of the pushrod until the exhaust gate and

 the aftflap are aligned in the limit.
 NOTE: One half turn of the end fitting on the exhaust gate
____ pushrod will move the trailing edge of the exhaust gate aproximately 0.115 inch.

 5) Install the exhaust gate pushrod.
 6) Tighten the nuts on the pushrod to 30-40 pound-inches.

 (d)  
Remove the rig pin from the exhaust gate actuating mechanism.

 (e)  
Install the outboard panel on the lower surface of the midflap.

 (f)  
Remove the support from the trailing edge of the exhaust gate.

 Make sure the clearance between the outboard end of the aftflap and the wing rib is 0.50 |0.25 inch.

 Make sure that the clearance between the trailing edge of the foreflap and the midflap is a minimum of 0.03 inch (Fig. 501).

 (a)  
If the clearance is not in the tolerance, the foreflap or the midflap is defective.

 Make sure the clearance between the wing panel and the top surface of the midflap is 0.06 +0.06/-0.03 inch.

 Make sure the clearance between the flap and the nacelle fairing is

 0.90 to 1.25 inch.

 Make sure the clearance between the ground spoiler actuator and the top of the foreflap is a minimum of 0.12 inch.

 Install all access panels.
