2) Use a 6 inch (150 mm) scale to measure from the bottom edge of the left elevator to the
bottom edge of the elevator tab (this is referred to as the "up tab position").
a) Make a record of this up tab position.
b) Release the control column.
(ab) Add the neutral tab position to the down tab position.
1) Make sure the sum is 1.35 - 1.69 inches (34.3 - 42.9 mm).
(ac) Subtract the neutral tab position from the up tab position.
1) Make sure the difference is 1.00 - 1.28 inches (25.4 - 45.7 mm).
(ad) Open this circuit breaker and install safety tag:

(ae) Move the flap control lever to the 5-unit position.

1) Make sure that the right tab begins to move in 10 +/- 2 seconds.
(ag) Lightly move the control column forward and aft a small amount to make sure that the
system is in the neutral position.
(ah) Verify that the right elevator is aligned with the index mark in +/- 0.06 inch (+/- 1.5 mm).
1) Use a 6 inch (150 millimeter) scale to measure from the bottom edge of the right
elevator to the bottom edge of the elevator tab (this is referred to as the "neutral tab
position).
a) Make a record of this neutral tab position.
(ai) Move and hold the control column full aft.
1) Use a scale to make sure the trailing edge of the right elevator is in 13.73 - 14.87 inches
(348.7 - 377.7 millimeters) of the index mark.
2) Use a 6 inch (150 millimeter) scale to measure from the bottom edge of the right
elevator to the bottom edge of the elevator tab (this is referred to as the "up tab
position").
a) Make a record of this up tab position.
b) Release the control column.
(aj) Move and hold the control column full forward.
1) Use a scale to make sure the trailing edge of the right elevator is in 10.18 - 11.08 inches

2) Use a 6 inch (150 mm) scale to measure from the bottom edge of the right elevator to

1) Make sure the sum is between 0.80 and 1.20 inches (20.3 and 30.5 mm).
(al) Subtract the neutral tab position from the down tab position.
1) Make sure the difference is between 0.60 and 0.90 inches (15.2 and 22.9 mm).
(am) Move the left elevator by hand to align it with the index mark in +/- 0.06 inch (+/- 1.5 mm).
1) Use a 6 inch (150 millimeter) scale to measure from the bottom edge of the left elevator
to the bottom edge of the elevator tab (this is referred to as the "neutral tab position").
a) Make a record of this neutral tab position.
(an) Move and hold the control column full aft.

the index mark.
