(a) Make sure you can install the rig pin R-5 freely. If you cannot install the rig pin freely, adjust
the rudder trim actuator:
1) Jiggle and release the feel and centering unit input arm to make sure the system is
centered.
2) Move the rudder trim knob until rig pin R-5 can be installed freely.
(10) Make sure the rudder trim indicator is at 0.00 +/- 0.25 unit of trim.
(a) If indicator is not at 0.00 +/- 0.25 unit of trim, adjust the trim indicator per
AILERON/RUDDER TRIM CONTROL MODULE, SUBJECT 27-11-94.

(11) Set the FLT CONTROL A and B switches to OFF.

(12) Install the rig pins R-3, and R-4 (Figure 501).
(a) If only one rig pin can be inserted freely, adjust the bus rod per Rudder Forward Quadrant
Adjustment, TASK 27-21-00-820-806-002.
(b) If both rig pins cannot be installed freely, adjust the control cables RA and RB, do this task:
Rudder Control Cables RA and RB Adjustment, TASK 27-21-00-820-808-002.
(13) Install the rig pins R-1 and R-2.
(a) If you cannot install the rig pins freely, adjust the pedal tension rods per Rudder Pedals
Adjustment, TASK 27-21-00-820-807-002.

(14) Remove the rig pins R-1, R-2, R-3, and R-4.
G. Control Rods for the Main PCU Adjustment

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDER,
ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN
MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY
TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Set the FLT CONTROL B switch to ON.

(2) Make sure that the YAW DAMPER switch on the P5-3 panel is in the OFF position and the YAW
DAMPER light is illuminated.

(4) Do these steps to put the rudder trailing edge to the left of the index plate:
NOTE: Always start the adjustment of the control rod with the rudder at this position.
(a) Loosen the clamp nut [35] on the lower control rod [36] until you can rotate the sleeve [37].
(b) Rotate the sleeve [37] until the rudder trailing edge is between 0.30 in. (7.6 mm) to 0.50 in.
(12.7 mm) to the left of the index plate.
NOTE: One full rotation of the sleeve [37] will move the rudder trailing edge 0.18 degree
(0.18 inch). Rotate the sleeve [37] clockwise (looking aft) will move the rudder
trailing edge left. Rotate the sleeve [37] counter-clockwise (looking aft) will move
the rudder trailing edge right.

(5) Set the FLT CONTROL B switch to OFF and FLT CONTROL A switch to ON.

(6) Do these steps to put the rudder trailing edge to the left of the index plate:

(7) Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to OFF.

(8) Install the rig pin R-5 in the rudder feel and centering unit.

(9) Push the rudder trailing edge to the right of the index plate 10 in. (254 mm) or more to rotate the
overrides out of the detent position then smoothly return the rudder back to the center position.
NOTE: Do not move the rudder surface again until both of the control rods [36] have been
adjusted.

(10) Remove the rig pin R-5.
