(a)
Use Type I adhesive for the parts of the seal that are not flexible.
NOTE: Do not use Type I adhesive on the diaphragm seals or

Use Type II adhesive where it is necessary for the seal to be very flexible.
(c)
Use Type III adhesive for fast repairs.
NOTE:____Type III is very flexible. You can use it on any part of any seal.

(2) Prepare the adhesive.
NOTE:____Type II adhesive has only one part. It is not necessary to prepare Type II adhesive before you use it.
(a) Mix the parts of the Type I adhesive. 1) Put together only the amount of adhesive that is necessary. 2) Weigh the parts to get the correct ratio. 3) Use 100 parts of General Electric SR-529 adhesive to 4.5
parts of SCR-18 catalyst.
NOTE: The pot life is 8 hours at 70°F.

(b) Mix the parts of the Type III adhesive. 1) Do these steps to mix the Dow Corning adhesive: a) Put together only the amount of adhesive that is
necessary. b) Weigh the parts to get the correct ratio. c) Use 100 parts of Dow Corning 93-076-1/8 adhesive to 10
parts of catalyst.
NOTE: The pot life is 2 hours.

2) Do these steps to mix the RTV 700 adhesive: a) Select the correct catalyst.
NOTE: Beta 2 will only let the adhesive flow for
____ approximately 45 minutes after you mix it. Use it when you do not want the adhesive to flow. Beta 1 or Beta 4 will let the adhesive flow for the entire 3 hour pot life of the adhesive. Use them when it is satisfactory to let the adhesive flow.

E. Repair the Seals

(1) Prepare the surfaces of the repair.
WARNING: DO NOT GET METHYL ETHYL KETONE (MEK) IN YOUR MOUTH OR
_______ EYES, OR ON YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM MEK. PUT ON SPLASH GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU USE MEK. KEEP MEK AWAY FROM SPARKS, FLAME, AND HEAT. MEK IS A POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE SOLVENT WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DAMAGE.
