Go to a point in the middle of the seal retainer.

 (b)  
Push two to three inches of the flap-type seal into the seal retainer at this point.

 (c)  
Push the remaining flap-type seal into the seal retainer while you move from this point to the corners.

 (d)  
Push the flap-type seal to make it smooth.

 (5)  
Close and lock the door.

See that the flap-type seal touches the door opening smoothly and equally.

 BULB TYPE MECHANICAL SEALS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A. This procedure contains three tasks:
 (1)  
The removal of the seal that is around the edge of a door or hatch.

 (2)  
The installation of the seal that is around the edge of the forward entry door.

 (3)  
The installation of the seal that is around the edge of an emergency exit hatch.

Open the door sufficiently to remove the seal.

Remove the seal.

 (a)  
Lift the rounded part of the seal to get to the screws.

 (b)  
Remove the screws from the seal.

 (c)  
Pull the seal from the applicable door or hatch.

Open the door sufficiently to install the seal.

Disconnect the control rods from the top and the bottom gates.

 (3)  
Put the seal on the forward entry door (Fig. 401).

 (a)  
Put the longer edge of the seal on the forward edge of the door.

 (b)  
Align the notches in the seal with the hinges for the top and the bottom gates.

 (4)  Temporarily attach the seal at the corners and the hinges of the door.
 NOTE: First install the seal at a top corner of the door.
____ Then, move to the other corners of the door. Then, move to the ends of the hinges at the top and the bottom gates.
 (a)  
Tightly push the seal against the locator angle.

 (b)  
Make holes in the flange of the seal that align with the holes in the locator angle.

 (c)  
Temporarily install the screw and a washer in the holes.

 (d)  
Tighten the screw to compress the flange of the seal.

 (5)  
Temporarily attach the seal to the forward edge of the door in the sequence shown (Detail C).

 (a)  
Tightly push the seal against the locator angle.

 (b)  
Make holes in the flange of the seal that align with the holes in the locator angle.
