 (1)  
Clean all the surfaces that touch the seal.

 (a)  
Use a clean cloth and solvent to clean the surfaces.

 CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU INSTALL THE SEAL. IT IS EASY TO CUT THE SEAL OR MAKE A HOLE IN THE SEAL.
 (2)  
Install a seal in a flange.

 (a)  
Put the seal adjacent to the flange.

 (b)  
See that the seal points outboard.

 (c)  
Push one edge of the seal into the flange.

 (d)  
Use the special tool to push the other edge of the seal into the flange.

 NOTE: Liquid soap is a good lubricant for the seal.

 (3)  S 424-007-B00Install a seal with an angle. (a) Put the seal adjacent to the angle. (b) Make holes in the seal that align with the angle. (c) Tighten the screws until you see the angle compress the seal.
 (4)  S 864-008-B00Close the door.
 (5)  S 714-009-B00Do this check of the seals. (a) Make sure there is not an overlap where the seals touch. (b) Cut the seals if there is an overlap.

 ACOUSTIC AND THERMO SEALS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  Acoustic and Thermo Seals reduce noise. They also are insulation. Each seal has two parts. The parts come together to make the seal work correctly (Fig. 401).
 B.  Part of the Acoustic and Thermo Seal attaches to the lining of the door. Part of the Acoustic and Thermo Seal attaches to the lining in the door opening.
 C.  This procedure contains two tasks:
 (1)  
The removal of the Acoustic and Thermo Seal

 (2)  
The installation of the Acoustic and Thermo Seal.

 D.  
This procedure refers to the Acoustic and Thermo Seals as "the seal".

 (1)  
Open the door sufficiently to remove the seal.

 (2)
Remove the part of the seal that is on the lining of the door.

 (a)  
Remove the screws that hold the trim to the sides of the door.

 (b)  
Remove the trim.

 (c)  
Remove the bulb-type part of the seal.

 (3)  
Remove the part of the seal that is on the lining of the door opening.

 (a)  
Hold a piece of the seal.
