(1)
Examine the hinge supports.
(a)
Examine the bushings.
1) Look for corrosion.
2) Look for worn areas.
(b)
Examine the O-rings. 1) See that the O-rings are in good condition. 2) See that the O-rings are installed correctly.

Prepare the hinge arms for installation.
(a)
See that the nuts (14) and the retainers (15) are installed correctly.
(b)
Put a layer of grease on the hinge arms where they touch the hinge pin.

(3)
Install the hinge arms (16).
(a)
Put the hinge arm (16) and the cover bracket (13) in the hinge support.
(b)
Put the hinge pin (17) in the hinge arm (16).
(c)
Put the bolts (12) through the bushings in the hinge support and the hinge arm.
NOTE: Do not tighten the bolts.

(4) S 434-017-B00Install the housing for the handle mechanism. (a) Install a new O-ring (30) for the external handle. (b) Put the housing in the door. (c) Make sure the torque tube aligns with the hinge pins. 1) Move the nuts (24) for vertical adjustment if the torque tube does not align. (d) Install the four bolts (28) in the recess for the external handle.
(5) S 434-018-B00Assemble the torque tube, hinge pins and sleeves. (a) Lubricate the parts as follows: 1) Put a layer of grease on the hinge pins. 2) Put a layer of grease on the sleeves. 3) Put a layer of grease on the torque tube. (b) Move the sleeves to the joint between the torque tube and the hinge pins. (c) Install the bolts through the torque tube, sleeve and hinge pin. (d) Install the nuts and the washers on the bolts. 1) Tighten the nuts until they are at the end of the threads on the bolts.
NOTE:____ The nuts do not tighten against the sleeve.
2) 3) 4) Tighten the nuts from 58 to 63 pound-inches.Make sure there is not more than 0.016 inch between the sleeve and the washers.Install another washer if it is necessary to get the correct distance.
(6) S 434-019-B00Install the 12 bolts (21) that hold the housing for the handle mechanism to the structure.
(7) S 434-020-B00Connect the control rods (19 and 27) for the gates. (a) Connect the control rods to the handle mechanism. (b) Connect the control rods to the gates.
