29.6 When prior flight details have not been lodged and the intention is
to depart VFR into controlled airspace, the following information
must be provided to ATC before the taxi call:
a. aircraft call-sign and “FLIGHT DETAILS FOR DEPARTURE”
(wait for response from ATC); then
b. aircraft type;
c. first intended landing point;
d. route; and
e. level.
29.7 Information is not given concerning aircraft taxiing, or about to taxi,
on apron areas.

29.8 A continuous listening watch on the SMC frequency must be maintained
while taxiing or when conducting ground operations on the
manoeuvring area as ATC may activate runways not nominated
on the ATIS at any time.
30. DEPARTURES
30.1 Departure procedures for each particular GAAP aerodrome are
published in ERSA.
30.2 When an aircraft is approaching the holding point and is next for
take-off, the pilot must report “READY” on the appropriate Tower
frequency, notifying runway, intentions and identification of ATIS
code received.
30.3 When departing into adjoining non-controlled airspace, a pilot
must:
a. depart the CTR by extending the appropriate leg of the circuit;
b. obtain specific ATC approval for any turn contrary to the circuit
direction;
c. climb to the departure altitude specified in ERSA for the particular
GAAP aerodrome whilst maintaining continuous surveillance
for, and separation from, other aircraft; and
d. track via departure procedures (if any) for the particular GAAP
aerodrome as specified in ERSA, or track well clear of GAAP
approach points and associated VFR routes, to reduce possible
conflict with inbound aircraft.
30.4 When departing into controlled airspace, route and level clearances
override published GAAP procedures and will be taken into
account by ATC.
30.5 Where a departing aircraft will enter adjacent controlled airspace,
frequency change instructions will be issued by ATC.
30.6 Departure reports must not be passed on tower frequency at
GAAP aerodromes.
30.7 A departing IFR aircraft proceeding outside controlled airspace
must change to the area VHF frequency when 5NM (or as specified
in ERSA) from the control zone boundary and report departure.
31. ENTRY TO THE CTR
31.1 Entry to the CTR must be in accordance with the procedures specified
in ERSA for the particular GAAP aerodrome.

31.2 Aircraft must not enter a GAAP CTR until in receipt of a circuit entry
or zone transit instruction.
31.3 Where practicable, terminal information must be obtained from the
ATIS prior to calling the tower.
31.4 The pilot in command must report to the tower at a GAAP aerodrome
approach point, advising:
a. call-sign,
b. aircraft type,
c. position,
d. level,
e. ATIS code received, and
f. intention.
31.5 Whenever possible, flights under both the IFR and VFR, arriving
from outside controlled airspace, must track visually via a GAAP
aerodrome approach point as specified in ERSA. Whenever practicable,
arriving VFR flights, and IFR flights in VMC, leaving controlled
airspace on descent, will be instructed by ATC to track visually
via an approach point.
31.6 At night, pilots may be unable to enter the CTR at the entry altitude
specified in ERSA due to lowest safe altitude requirements. In
such instances the pilot in command must request an alternative
level.
32. ENTRY TO THE CIRCUIT
32.1 A circuit entry instruction constitutes a clearance to descend to the
circuit altitude specified in ERSA, except where:
a. ATC issues an instruction to “OVERFLY AT (level)”, “JOIN UPWIND
AT (level)”, or “MAINTAIN (level); or
b. an alternative procedure is specified in ERSA .

32.2 “OVERFLY AT (level)” is an ATC instruction which:
a. authorises entry into the CTR at the altitude specified by ATC;
b. requires the pilot to overfly the aerodrome maintaining this altitude;
and
c. is used by ATC to direct aircraft overhead the aerodrome clear
of circuit traffic, and where parallel circuits are in use, authorises
the aircraft to enter airspace associated with the opposite
circuit.

When necessary, ATC will specify frequency change instructions
with OVERFLY where parallel runways are in use.

32.3 “JOIN UPWIND AT (level)” is an instruction which:
