minima shall apply to aircraft landing or taking off on either runway
as if they were a single runway, but aircraft taxiing or stationary on
the runway must not affect operations on the other.
57.2.3 Where gliders and glider tugs operate to a contra-circuit, simultaneous
operations are permitted.
57.2.4 Position in the circuit should be broadcast if considered of value to
other aircraft for separation purposes.

57.3 Circuit Height
57.3.1 By convention, the following circuit heights are flown:
a. jets, 1500FT AGL;
b. piston/turbo prop, 1000FT AGL; and
c. helicopters, 800FT AGL.
57.3.2 Circuit heights for aerodromes which have specific requirements
are published in ERSA.
58. TAXIING
58.1 IFR aircraft operating from non-controlled aerodromes must report
to ATS on taxiing. If unable to establish contact, proceed in
accordance with para 56.1.
58.2 All aircraft operating from an aerodrome within a MBZ and all radio
equipped aircraft operating from an aerodrome within a CTAF area
must broadcast on the MBZ frequency or CTAF on taxiing.
58.3 Taxiing reports and broadcasts must include the following information:
a. aircraft type;
b. POB (taxiing report for IFR flights other than RPT);
c. IFR (if operating IFR)
d. location;
e. destination or departure quadrant or intentions; and
f. runway to be used.
58.4 All aircraft operating from an aerodrome within a MBZ and all
radio-equipped aircraft operating from an aerodrome within a
CTAF area must broadcast on the MBZ frequency or CTAF when
entering a runway for take-off.
59. DEPARTURE INFORMATION
59.1 A pilot in command of an IFR aircraft must establish flight on the
departure track as soon as practicable after take-off and within
5NM of the aerodrome, except that, at aerodromes which have
published standard instrument departure procedures, an IFR aircraft
may depart in accordance with those procedures. When on
the departure track, and at or before the boundary of the MBZ or
CTAF area, the pilot in command must report departure to ATS unless
instructed otherwise.

59.2 This report must include the following information:
a. time;
b. outbound track in degrees magnetic;
c. intended cruising level; and
d. the estimate for the first en route reporting point.
59.3 When aircraft climb performance will result in the aircraft leaving
the MBZ/CTAF area vertical boundary before departure track is
intercepted, the departure call must include advice that the aircraft
is manoeuvring to intercept departure track.
59.4 When circumstances dictate that flight notification details be submitted
in-flight, the above items must be combined with the appropriate
items of the flight notification, and prefixed with the words
“FLIGHT PLAN”.
60. CLIMB AND CRUISE PROCEDURES
60.1 Pilots of radio-equipped VFR aircraft must listen out on the appropriate
VHF frequency and announce if in potential conflict. Pilots
intercepting broadcasts from aircraft in their vicinity which are
considered to be in potential conflict with their own aircraft must
acknowledge by transmitting own call-sign and, as appropriate,
aircraft type, position, actual level and intentions.
60.2 The pilot in command of an IFR flight must notify the intention to
amend route, deviate from track or change level in sufficient time
for ATS to advise traffic. When a position estimate changes by
more than two (2) minutes, the pilot must advise ATS.
60.3 Pilots must give ATS notice of an impending position report by use
of the word “POSITION”;
eg, “MELBOURNE CENTRE (call-sign) POSITION”.
Pilots must wait for the ATS instruction before reporting position.
60.4 Pilots must report maintaining an assigned level.
60.5 After any en route frequency change, a pilot in command of an IFR
flight must advise present level. If the aircraft is not at its planned
cruising level, the pilot must also provide advice of the level to
which the aircraft is being climbed.
60.6 A pilot of a flight intending to operate in proximity to a GAAP CTR
should:
a. where possible, avoid the area within 5NM (or any lesser distance
specified in ERSA) of the CTR boundary due to the high

density of traffic between the CTR and the GAAP aerodrome
approach points, or
b. follow the procedures detailed at para 35.2.1.
61. POSITION REPORTS
61.1 Position reporting is mandatory when operating under the IFR and
