67.2.3 Pilots may cancel a SARTIME via:
a. FLIGHTWATCH on a FIS VHF outlet as shown in ERSA and en
route charts, or on HF;

b. relay through another pilot,
c. telephone to CENSAR on 1800 814 931, or
d. ATS when telephone facilities are not available.
67.2.4 For SARTIME flights, pilots of single VHF radio-equipped aircraft
must cancel SARTIME either after landing or at or before the MBZ
or CTAF area boundary.
67.3 SARTIME for Departure
67.3.1 When submitting flight notification, a pilot may nominate a SARTIME
for departure for the initial departure aerodrome only. For
intermediate departure, it may be nominated by telephone after
landing, or as part of the arrival report associated with that aerodrome.
Only one SARTIME may be current at any time.
67.3.2 The nomination of a SARTIME for departure does not absolve the
pilot from complying with the requirements for the carriage of serviceable
radio equipment, nor from making the prescribed reports.
67.3.3 Pilots of other than IFR RPT flights, wishing to extend the SAR
watch for the period of landing and subsequent take-off, may nominate
a SARTIME for departure when arriving at an aerodrome
where radio or ground communication cannot reasonably be assured.
SAR alerting action will be initiated if a taxiing or departure
report is not received by the nominated SARTIME.
68. RADIO TELEPHONY REQUIREMENTS OUTSIDE CONTROLLED
AIRSPACE
68.1 The call-sign of the station or service being called must be included
at the beginning of each exchange on VHF and HF.
Note: The requirement of para 56.7 applies when reporting on HF.
68.2 All transmissions between aircraft or when broadcasting intentions
must be prefixed with the aircraft call-sign.
68.3 When requesting operational information on FIS frequencies, the
pilot must use the service call-sign “FLIGHTWATCH”.
68.4 Use of the collective “ALL STATIONS” must precede a broadcast.
68.5 To help identify one aerodrome from another when there may be
other traffic operating to or from a nearby aerodrome, the aerodrome
name must be included at the beginning and end of each
transmission when entering a MBZ or CTAF area.

69. HOLDING
69.1 Holding must be in accordance with approved procedures. If aircraft
are required to hold at a point for which no procedure is published,
they must do so in a manner specified by ATC.
69.2 A request by a pilot in command to deviate from a prescribed holding
procedure may be approved.
70. DIVERSION TO AN ALTERNATE AERODROME
70.1 The pilot in command is responsible for taking appropriate diversion
action based on information received. The pilot must provide
the latest diversion time from the destination or from a point en
route and, if required, the time interval.
71. OPERATING REQUIREMENTS FOR TRANSPONDERS
71.1 Pilots of aircraft fitted with a serviceable Mode 3A transponder
must activate the transponder at all times during flight in non-controlled
airspace, and if the transponder is Mode 3C capable, that
mode must also be operated continuously.
71.2 For further information on the operation of transponders, including
normal and emergency codes, see ENR 1.6 Section 8.
72. ALTERNATE AERODROMES
72.1 General
72.1.1 A pilot in command must make provision for flight to an alternate
aerodrome, when required, in accordance with the following paragraphs.
72.1.2 When a flight is required to provide for an alternate aerodrome,
any aerodrome may be so nominated for that flight provided:
a. it is suitable as a destination for that flight; and
b. is not an aerodrome for which that flight would require to provide
for an alternate aerodrome.
72.1.3 When an aerodrome forecast is not available or is “provisional”,
the pilot in command must make provision for a suitable alternate
that has a firm forecast.
72.2 Weather Conditions
72.2.1 Except when operating an aircraft under the VFR by day within
50NM of the point of departure, the pilot in command must provide

for a suitable alternate aerodrome when arrival at the destination
will be during the currency of, or up to 30 minutes prior to the forecast
commencement of, the following weather conditions:
a. cloud – more than SCT below the alternate minimum (see
paras 72.2.12 and 72.2.13 ); or
