 If you adjusted the shims (22 or 26), do these steps to adjust the latch keeper on the external handle:

 (a)  
Close and latch the door.

 (b)  
With the external handles (2, 28,) in their positions, make sure the handle flushness is as shown in Fig. 502.

 (c)  
Do these steps to adjust the handle flushness, if it is necessary: 1) Extend the external handles. 2) Remove the fasteners that hold the latch keeper, the

 serrated plate, and the shim to the handle. 3) Remove and adjust the shim to get the correct flushness.
 NOTE: The shim thickness of the upper latch keeper (when
____ the handles are in the door closed position) will cause the incorrect fairing of the lower handle. Keep the shim thickness on the upper handle to a minimum (or remove the shim, if it is possible) . This will keep the lower handle in its correct position.
 4) Loosely assemble the latch keeper, the serrated plate, and shim with the bolts, nuts and washers. 5) Adjust the serrations to get a correct clearance between the latch and the latch keeper (Fig. 502). 6) Tighten the nuts.
 (d)
Do the steps (b) and (c) above with the door open.

Put the Airplane Back to Its Serviceable Condition

 (1)  
Install the entry door lining (Ref 52-11-02/401).

Procedure

 (1)  S 014-005Remove the maintenance access panel for the door.
 (2)  S 024-006Remove the hinge flap. (a) Remove the fasteners that attach the hinge flap to the hinge.
 NOTE:____ Keep the shims between the hinge and the hinge flap to use during installation.
 (b) (c)  Remove the hinge pin to disconnect the hinge.Remove the spring installation pin to remove the spring.
