If the length is not correct, do these steps:

 (a)  
Loosen the locknuts (19) and (21).

 (b)  
Turn the length adjustment fitting (20) to get the correct length.

 (c)  
Tighten the larger locknut (21) to 650-700 pound-inches and the smaller locknut (19) to 350-400 pound-inches.

Install the Guide Arm.

 S 214-036
 (1) Make sure the key (12) is installed on the support fitting (8).
 NOTE:____The support fitting is not symmetrical. The key will index the support fitting to the serrated plate.

Install the bolt (24) to connect the support fitting (8) to the guide arm (2) per Detail B.

 down when you do a check for the initial load.

 (4)  Install the elbow pin (26) (View A-A).
 NOTE: If it is necessary, open the door fully to install the elbow

 (a)  
Install the bushing (32) in the guide arm (2).

 (b)  
Put the bellcrank link (11) in the center of the hole of the guide arm (2).

 (c)  
Use the washers (25) to set the bellcrank link (11) clearances in the guide arm (2).

 (d)  
Put the elbow pin (26) through the guide arm (2), the bellcrank link (11), and the washers (25).

 (e)  
Attach the elbow pin (26) to the bellcrank link (11) with the bolt (31) and nut (30).

 NOTE: Install the bolt so that the head faces aft when
____
 the door is closed.

 (5)  
Install the guide arm pin (10) (View A-A).

 (a)  
Put the guide arm (2) between the guide plates (9) as shown in Detail A.

 (b)  
Put the spacers (27) above and below the guide arm (2) and between guide arm and guide plates (9).

 (c)  
Install the pin (10) through the guide plates (9), spacers (27), and guide arm (2) per View A-A.

 (d)  
Turn the pin (10) as necessary to align the holes in the sleeve (29) and the guide arm (2) for the bolt (28).

 (e)  
Apply a small quantity of the sealant to the threads of the kept bolt (28) and install it.

 (f)  
Make sure the pin (10) can turn freely.

 S 424-041
 (6)  
Connect the guide arm (2) to the door (Detail B).

 (a)  
Move the door to align the holes in the support fitting (8) with the hinge housing (15).

 (b)  
Adjust the support fitting (8) vertically on the serrated plate (17).

 (c)  
Install the bolts (14) and washers (13) that attach the support fitting (8) to the hinge housing (15).

 (d)  
Make sure that the fitting serrations are correctly engaged with the serrations on the plate (17).

 (e)  
Tighten the bolts (13) that attach the support fitting (8) to the hinge housing (15).

 (7)  
Adjust the guide arm (2).

 (a)  
Close and latch the door.

 (b)  
Get access through the opening in the door outer skin.

 (c)  
Examine the guide arm (2) to make sure there is no initial load. 1) Make sure you can move the bolt (24) which connects the rod
