Apply the sealant to the diaphragm seal.

 (a)  
Apply the pressure fillet and injection seals to the diaphragm seal as shown (View B-B, Fig. 401).

 (b)  
Apply a layer of the RTV 174 sealant on the ends of each diaphragm seal, rod, and seal retainer (View A, Fig. 401).

 (c)  
Make an overlap of the sealant on the diaphragm seal and make the surface smooth.

 (d)  
Put RTV sealant around the full length of the retaining rod.

 (e)  
Let the sealant cure for a minimum of 24 hours at 75°F and 50% relative humidity.

 G.
Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

Install the door lower gate splined shaft.

Connect the girt bar lifter radius rods attachment bolts.

Install the gate control rod attach bolts to the top and lower gates (View A-A, Fig. 401).

Close the door.

From the inner side of the airplane, make sure the seal lip is in the correct position against the inner surface of the fuselage skin.

Install the lining support plates at the top and lower gates (View A, Fig. 401).

Connect the entry door wiring.

Install the door lining (Ref 52-11-02/401).

 AERODYNAMIC SEALS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure contains two tasks. The first task is the removal of the aerodynamic seal. The second task is the installation of the aerodynamic seal.

 2.  Remove the Aerodynamic Seal (Fig. 401)___________________________
 A.  Procedure

 (1)
Put the door in a position to make the removal of the seal easy.

 S 024-003

 (2)  
On seal installations with a retainer flange, pull and roll the seal to remove it from the seal retainer on the door structure.

 S 024-004

 (3)  
On seal installations with a retainer angle, remove the screws or bolts that hold the retainer angle to the door structure, lift the angle from seal, and remove the seal.

Prepare the Surfaces for the Aerodynamic Seal

_______ SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM SOLVENTS. SOLVENTS ARE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. SOLVENTS MAY BE FLAMMABLE OR HARMFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT. REFER TO PRODUCT MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS (MSDS) AND LOCAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PROPER HANDLING PROCEDURES.
 (1)  
Clean all of the surfaces adjacent to the seal with the solvent and a clean cloth.

Procedure

 (1)  
Put the seal in the correct position.

 (a)  
Put the seal adjacent to the seal retainer.
