 (h)  Tighten the larger locknut 650-750 pound-inches and the smaller locknut 350-400 pound-inches.
 NOTE: If the locknuts have holes for lock wire, lockwire
____ the locknuts. If the locknuts do not have holes, no thread locking compound is required on the locknuts.
 (i)  
Install the shrink sleeve if it is necessary, as follows: 1) Remove the bolt and put the shrink sleeve over the guide arm. 2) Put the bolt through the guide arm and guide arm support fitting. 3) If a new shrink sleeve is installed, shrink the sleeve with the drain holes facing down.

 4)  Tighten the bolt which connects the guide arm to the support fitting.

 (j)  
Make sure the guide arm moves freely (Section E-E). 1) Add washers (4 maximum, 1 minimum) to get equal clearance at the "Y" locations.

 2)  Make sure the spacers between the cam plates and the guide arm turn freely when you open and close the door.

 (k)  
Open the door to the cocked position.

 NOTE: The cocked position is the position where the door open
____ approximately 25 degrees and the internal handle is at the aft stop position.
 1) Try to extend the external handle. 2) Adjust the pushrod (5, Detail B) until you can extend the external handle, if it is necessary.
 (l)  Fully close and latch the door.
 1)  Make sure the force on the pushrod (5, Detail B) is in the following range: a) The force can be from zero up to a force in tension
 when you shorten the pushrod by one turn on the rod end bearing.

 (4)  Adjust the lower gate.
 CAUTION: MANUALLY LIFT THE LOWER GATE WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DOOR WITH
_______ THE LOWER PUSHROD DISCONNECTED. DO NOT TRY TO CLOSE THE DOOR WITH THE LOWER GATE DOWN. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SPLINE TORQUE SHAFT ON THE GIRT BAR MECHANISM.
 (a) Manually lift the lower gate and close and latch the door.
 NOTE: You can use a flexible cord to keep the lower gate in

 the up position.

 (b)  
Move the handle toward the open position until you can connect the pushrod to the lower gate.

 (c)  
Connect the gate pushrod.

 (d)  
Close the door.

 (e)  
Adjust the lower gate pushrod to get the correct flushness of the lower gate as shown in Fig. 502.

 NOTE:____Only one end of the gate pushrod is accessible. If it is necessary, you can remove the gate pushrod and attach the adjustable end of the pushrod to the torque tube. If you changed the gate pushrod from its original position, drill a drain hole in the lower end of the gate pushrod.

 (f)  
Make sure the overcenter dimension between the bell crank on the torque tube and the overcenter tool is as shown in Detail F.

 NOTE: Use the overcenter tool to measure the dimension.

 (g)  Do these steps to adjust the overcenter dimension, if it is not correct: 1) Move the handle toward the open position until you can
 disconnect the lower latch pushrod. 2) Disconnect the latch pushrod from the torque tube. 3) Adjust the lower latch pushrod one-haft turn at a time to
 get the correct overcenter dimension.
 4)  After each adjustment of the latch pushrod, make sure the adjustment of the lower latch roller clearance is as shown in Section A-A and the lower gate flushness is as shown in Fig. 502.
 NOTE: When you change the length of the latch pushrod, it
____ changes the clearance between the latch roller and the latch fitting.
 (h)  Close and latch the door.

Adjust the upper gate.
