 (d)  
Cut a piece of Dacron fabric to make an overlap of 0.5 inch on the sides and the ends of the hole.

 (e)  
Use Procedure B with Type I, Type II, or Type II adhesive to bond the damaged seal.

 (6)  
Repair a damaged blade seal (3.0 inches maximum length) (Fig. 802).

 (a)  
Repair the area when it is not necessary to replace the damaged section.

 (b)  
Cut a piece of Dacron fabric to make an overlap of 0.50 inch on the sides and the ends of the damaged area.

 (c)  
Use Procedure B with Type II or Type III adhesive to bond the damaged seal.

 (d)  
Make sure the patch is on the two sides of the seal in less than 0.25 inch of the seal retainer.

 (e)  
Make sure the edge of the patch is not on the flat part of the seal.

 (7)  
Repair the area when part of the seal is not there.

 (a)  
Remove the damaged edges of the seal.

 (b)  
Cut an equivalent section of spare seal to patch the seal.

 (c)  
Cut the Dacron fabric to make an overlap of 0.50 inch on the sides and the ends of the splice areas.

 (d)  
Use Procedure C with Dacron fabric and Type II or Type III adhesive to bond the piece of replacement seal to the seal.

 (e)  
Make sure the patch is on the two sides of the seal in less than 0.25 inch of the seal retainer.

 (f)  
Make sure the edge of the patch is not on the flat part of the seal.

 (8)  
Repair damaged splices on the seal.

 (a)  
Cut a piece of Dacron fabric 2.0 inches wide, and sufficiently long to wind fully around the seal.

 (b)  
Apply Type II or Type III adhesive with a brush to the cleaned surfaces of the seal.

 (c)  
Push the fabric into the wet adhesive and wind the fabric fully around the seal.

 (d)  
Push the fabric into the contours.

 (e)  
Apply more thin layers of adhesive by brush.

 NOTE:____Do not use too much adhesive. Too much adhesive makes the edge of the seal stiff and rigid.

 (f)  
Make sure the edges of the patch are smooth.

 (g)  
Make sure the seal is smooth and flat.
