to get the correct shim thickness.
3) Apply sealant, A00247 to the mating surfaces of the shims [65].
4) Put the shims [65] in their location between the aft link fitting [67] and the inboard
carriage [71].
NOTE: The nominal thickness of the shims [65] is 0.25 inch (6.35 mm). The maximum
thickness of the shims [65] is 0.50 inch (12.7 mm). The minimum thickness of
the shims [65] is 0.00 inch.
5) Apply compound, C00913 to the shank and threads of the bolts [68].
6) Install the bolts [68], washers [69] and nuts [70] that attach the aft link fitting [67] to the
inboard carriage [71].
(f) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Reactivation, TASK 27-51-00-440-801.
(g) Retract the trailing edge flaps to the retracted position. To retract the flaps, do this task:
Retract the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-804.
(h) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.
(i) On the inboard and outboard carriage [43], make sure a minimum of three main track
rollers [44] touch the flap track [45].
NOTE: If you cannot get three of the four main track rollers [44] to touch, it is permitted for
the two forward rollers, or the two aft rollers to touch.
(j) If a minimum of main track rollers do not touch, then add or remove shims again.

(4) Install and adjust the outboard deflection control roller assembly [2] (Figure 501):
NOTE: When you adjust the outboard deflection control assembly [2], make sure the flaps are
in the retracted position.
(a) Put the roller assembly [2] in its location on the rib [1].
(b) Apply compound, C00528 to the holes in the rib [1] for the bolts [3].
(c) Loosely install the bolts [3] and washers [4] that attach the roller assembly [2] to the rib [1].
(d) Move the roller assembly [2] until the upper roller [8] touches the upper surface of the
deflection control track [5].
(e) Tighten the bolts [3] to 55-90 pound-inches (6.2-10.1 newton-meters).
(f) Measure the distance from the outboard edge of the deflection control track [5] to the
outboard edge of the rollers [8].
(g) If the distance is not in the limit of 0.00 to 0.06 inch (0-1.52 mm), then adjust the position of
the rollers [8]:
NOTE: The rollers [8] must not be over the edge of the deflection control track [5].
1) Remove the bolts [3] and washers [4] that attach the roller assembly [2] to the rib [1].
2) Remove the nuts [12], bushings [11], bushings [9] and rollers [8] from the roller
assembly [2].
3) Change the position of the bushings [9] or bushings [11] to adjust the position of the
rollers [8].
4) Install the rollers [8], bushings [9], bushings [11] and nuts [12] on the roller assembly
[2].
5) Tighten the nuts [12] to 300-410 pound-inches (33.9-46.3 newton-meters).
6) Put the roller assembly [2] in its location on the rib [1].
7) Apply compound, C00528 to the holes in the rib [1] for the bolts [3].
8) Loosely install the bolts [3] and washers [4] that attach the roller assembly [2] to the rib
[1].
9) Move the roller assembly [2] until the upper roller [8] touches the upper surface of the
deflection control track [5].
10) Tighten the bolts [3] to 55-90 pound-inches (6.2-10.1 newton-meters).
(h) Measure the clearance between the deflection control track [5] and the rub pad [10] on the
roller assembly [2].
(i) If the clearance is not in the limit of 0.1248 ±0.050 inch (3.1699 ±1.27 mm), then adjust the
position of the rub pad [10]:
1) Remove the bolts [3] and washers [4] that attach the roller assembly [2] to the rib [1].
2) Remove the nuts [15], washers [14], fillers [7], bolts [13] and rub pad [10] from the roller
assembly [2].
3) Add or remove fillers [7] to the rub pad [10].
NOTE: For each filler [7] that you remove, install two additional washers [14] under
the nut [15]. For each additional filler [7] you install, remove two washers [14]
from under the nut [15].
4) Install the bolts [13], fillers [7], rub pad [10], washers [14] and nuts [15] on the roller
