(d) Move the flap control lever to the 1-unit position to extend the flaps.
(e) Make sure the inputs for the sensors are in the limits shown in (Table 502) for the 1-unit
position.
NOTE: Push the arrow keys to step through the sensor values.
(f) Move the flap control lever to the 40-unit position to extend the flaps.
NOTE: Measure the time it takes for the trailing edge flaps to extend from the 1-unit
position to the 40-unit position.
(g) Make sure the time it takes for the flaps to extend is 22 to 27 seconds.
(h) Make sure the inputs for the sensors are in the limits shown in (Table 502) for the 40-unit
position.
NOTE: Push the arrow keys to step through the sensor values.
(i) Move the flap control lever to the 1-unit position to retract the flaps.
NOTE: Measure the time it takes for the trailing edge flaps to retract from the 40-unit
position to the 1-unit position.
(j) Make sure the time it takes for the flaps to retract is 22 to 27 seconds.
(k) Move the flap control lever to the UP position to retract the flaps.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS. THE FLAPS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(6) Do a test of the power supply for the ALTERNATE FLAPS switches and the bypass valve:
(a) Open this circuit breaker:

(b) Move the ALTERNATE FLAPS ARM switch to the ARM position.
(c) Move the flap control lever to the 1-unit position to extend the flaps.
(d) Make sure the pointers on the flap position indicator are in the 1-unit white band.
(e) Move and hold the ALTERNATE FLAPS CONTROL switch in the DOWN position for 5
seconds.
NOTE: With the circuit breaker open, the bypass valve will not operate.
(f) Make sure the flaps do not extend.

(g) Close this circuit breaker:

(h) Move the flap control lever to the UP position.
NOTE: With the circuit breaker closed, the bypass valve will operate. The flaps will not
operate with the hydraulic motor.
(i) Make sure the flaps do not retract.
(j) Move and hold the ALTERNATE FLAPS CONTROL switch in the UP position until the flaps
stop.
(k) Make sure the pointers on the flap position indicator are in the UP white band.
(l) Move the ALTERNATE FLAPS ARM switch to the OFF position.

(7) Do a test of the power supply for the flap electric motor:
(a) Move the flap control lever to the 1-unit position to extend the flaps.
(b) Make sure the pointers on the flap position indicator are in the 1-unit white band.
(c) Open this circuit breaker:

(d) Move the ALTERNATE FLAPS ARM switch to the ARM position.
(e) Move and hold the ALTERNATE FLAPS CONTROL switch in the UP position for 5 seconds.
NOTE: With the circuit breaker open, the electric motor will not operate.
(f) Make sure the flaps do not retract.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE SLATS.
THE SLATS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT
(g) Move and hold the ALTERNATE FLAPS CONTROL switch in the DOWN position for 5
seconds.
NOTE: The leading edge slats will move from the extended position to the fully extended
position.
(h) Make sure the trailing edge flaps do not extend.
(i) Close this circuit breaker:

(8) Do a test of the UP limit switch and the time necessary to retract the flaps:
(a) Move the flap control lever to the UP position.
(b) Move and hold the ALTERNATE FLAPS CONTROL switch in the UP position until the flaps
stop.
