2) Apply grease, D00633 to the inside and outside of the carriage bushings [51].
3) Install the carriage bushings [51] to attach the gimbal [40] to the carriage [52].
4) Install the bolts [48], washers [49] and nuts [50] that attach the carriage bushings [51] to
the inboard carriage [52].
5) Tighten the nuts [50] to 220-410 pound-inches (23.8-46.3 newton-meters).

(a) On the inboard flap track [39], install the bolt [53], bushings [54], washer [55] and nut [56] on
the end of the flap track [39].
(b) On the outboard flap track [14], install the roller stop [30], roller stop [37] and the aft fairing
support fitting [35]:
1) Apply compound, C00913 to the mating surfaces of the aft fairing support fitting [35],
roller stop [30], roller stop [37] and the flap track [14].
2) Put the roller stop [30] and roller stop [37] and the aft fairing support fitting [35] in their
positions on the flap track [14].
NOTE: Make sure the roller stop [30] and roller stop [37] touch the web of the flap
track [14].
3) Apply compound, C00913 to the shank and threads of the bolt [27], bolts [36] and bolts
[31].
4) Install the bolts [31], washers [32], washers [33] and nuts [34] that attach the aft fairing
support fitting [35], roller stop [30] and roller stop [37] to the flap track [14].
5) Install the bolts [36], bolt [27], washers [28] and nuts [29] that attach the aft fairing
support fitting [35] to the flap track [14].

(3) Remove the sling, SPL-1729 [82] from the inboard flap assembly [1] (Figure 402):
(a) Disconnect the sling, SPL-1729 [82] from the 30 foot height (2000 lbs capacity) lift crane,
STD-1095.
(b) Disconnect the sling, SPL-1729 [82] from the sling fittings [81] and sling fitting [84].
(c) Remove the sling fittings [81] and sling fitting [84] from the inboard flap assembly [1].
(d) Apply compound, C00528 to the holes for the bolts [85] and bolts [86] in the inboard flap
assembly [1].
(e) Install the bolts [85] at the inboard and outboard ends of the front spar on the inboard flap
assembly [1].
(f) Install the bolts [86] at the aft end of the inboard flap assembly [1].

(4) If the aft flap [2] is installed, move the aft flap [2] to the extended position on the inboard flap
assembly [1]:
(a) Remove the restraint strap (part of the sling, SPL-1729) from the aft flap [2].
(b) Move the crankshaft [18] aft until the aft flap [2] is in the extended position.

(5) Connect the aft flap drive rod [25] to the crankshaft [18] (Figure 401):
(a) Move the aft flap drive rod [25] to its position on the crankshaft [18].
(b) Install the bolt [19], washer [20], bushing [21], washer [22] and nut [23] that attach the aft
flap drive rod [25] to the crankshaft [28].
NOTE: Make sure the head of the bolt [19] is on the inboard side.
(c) Tighten the nut [23] to 30-50 pound-inches (3.4-5.6 newton-meters).
(d) Install the pin [24] through the nut [23].

(6) Connect the skew control rods for the skew mechanisms to the carriages:
(a) Connect the skew control rod [41] to the inboard carriage [52]:

1) Apply compound, C00913 to the shank and threads of the bolt [43].
2) Install the bolt [43], washer [44], bushing [45], washer [46] and nut [47] to attach the
skew control rod [41] to the carriage [52].
NOTE: Install the bolt [43] with the head away from the center of the flap track [39].
(b) Connect the skew control rod [3] to the outboard carriage [13]:
1) Apply compound, C00913 to the shank and threads of the bolt [4].
2) Install the bolt [4], washer [5], bushing [6], washer [7] and nut [8] to attach the skew
control rod [3] to the carriage [13].
NOTE: Install the bolt [4] with the head away from the center of the flap track [14].

(7) Do a check of the adjustment of the deflection control roller [111] on the outboard end of the
inboard flap assembly [1] (Figure 403):
(a) Manually retract and extend the inboard flap assembly [1] through its full travel. To retract
