(a) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Reactivation, TASK 27-51-00-440-801.
(b) Retract the flaps to the retracted position, do this task: Retract the Trailing Edge Flaps,
TASK 27-51-00-860-804.
(c) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.

(10) Make sure the seals [62] on the wing to body fairing [56] touch the cover plate [63] on the inboard
end of the inboard flap assembly [2].

(11) If the seals [62] do not touch the cover plate [63], then adjust the applicable seal [62]:
(a) Loosen the screws [61] that attach the seal [62] and the seal retainer [60] to the wing to
body fairing [56].
(b) Adjust the position of the seal [62] and the retainer [60].
NOTE: Make sure you move the seal [62] and the seal retainer [60] together as a unit.
(c) Tighten the screws [61].
(d) Apply sealant, A00247 to smooth the area around the retainer.

(12) Do a check of the clearance at the aft flap seal [69]:
(a) At the aft end of the seal retainer [70], measure the distance between the base of the seal
retainer [70] and the wing-to-body fairing [56].
NOTE: This distance is referred to as dimension A.
(b) Make sure the aft flap seal [69] is the correct part for the actual dimension A (Table 501).

1) Remove the lockwire from the ends of the aft flap seal [69].
2) Remove the aft flap seal [69] from the seal retainer [70].
3) Put the new aft flap seal [69] in the seal retainer [70].
4) Install lockwire on the ends of the aft flap seal [69].

(13) Extend the trailing edge flaps:
(a) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Reactivation, TASK 27-51-00-440-801.
(b) Extend the trailing edge flaps to the 40-unit position. To extend them, do this task: Extend
the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.
(c) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.

(14) With the flaps fully extended, make sure the full surface of the spring assembly [66] on the
inboard carriage [59] touches the door [58] on the wing-to-body fairing [56] and that it holds the
door closed.

(15) If the spring assembly [66] does not touch the door [58], or hold it closed, adjust the position of
the spring assembly [66]:
(a) Loosen the bolts [64] and bolt [65] that hold the spring assembly in its position.
(b) Move the spring assembly [66] until it touches the door [58].
(c) Tighten the bolts [64] and bolt [65].

(16) Retract the trailing edge flaps:

(17) Do a check of the adjustment of the seals between the inboard and outboard flaps:
(a) Measure the distance between the lower skin of the outboard flap [1] and the inboard flap
[2].
NOTE: This distance is referred to as dimension B.
(b) Extend the trailing edge flaps:
1) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Reactivation, TASK 27-51-00-440-801.
2) Extend the trailing edge flaps to the 40-unit position. To extend them, do this task:
Extend the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.
3) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.
(c) Measure the distance the outboard flap seal [51] extends past the skin of the outboard flap
[1].
NOTE: The distance the outboard flap seal extends should be Dimension B minus 0.75
inch (1.91 centimeters).
