at the forward cable drum.
(c) Install non-metallic wedges between the STA [6] and STB [5] cables and the cable guards
on the left and right sides of the forward cable drum.
NOTE: The wedges are used to keep tension on the STA [6] and STB [5] cables while the
cables are rigged to the rear cable drum [15].

(3) Install the STB cable [5] on the aft cable drum [15]:
(a) Install the cable terminal in the top terminal slot of the aft cable drum [15].
(b) Install a new pin [61] to connect the cable terminal to the cable drum [15].
1) Install the ends of the pin [61] in the terminal slot.
(c) Place approximately 1.7 wraps of STB cable [5] on the aft cable drum [15].
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE STB CABLE [5] IS IN THE GROOVE OF THE FORWARD PULLEY
AND AFT PULLEY BEFORE TIGHTENING THE CABLE.
(d) Using the wrench, SPL-1684, wind the STB [5] cable onto the aft cable drum [15] until the
ballscrew reaches the upper stops. Use the wrench, SPL-1684 to keep tension on the STB
[5] cable.

(4) Install the STA [6] cable on the aft cable drum [15]:
(a) Place approximately 1.8 wraps of cable around the aft cable drum and install the cable
terminal in the bottom terminal slot of the aft cable drum [15].
(b) Install the new pin [61] to connect the cable terminal to the cable drum [15].
1) Install the ends of the pin [61] in the terminal slot.
(c) Remove the non-metallic wedges from the forward cable drum while keeping tension on
the STA [6] cable at the aft cable drum.
(d) Attach a control cable clamp, SPL-1569 to the STA [6] cable, forward of the aft cable drum.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT FINGERS OR HANDS DO NOT GET CAUGHT BETWEEN THE
CABLE AND THE DRUM OR INSIDE OF A LOOP OF CABLE. IF THE CABLE MOVES
SUDDENLY, SERIOUS INJURY MAY RESULT.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE STA [6] CABLE IS IN THE GROOVE IN THE FORWARD AND AFT
PULLEYS BEFORE TIGHTENING THE CABLE.
(e) Apply tension to the STA [6] cable through the control cable clamp, SPL-1569 until there is
enough cable to complete the final wrap around the aft cable drum [15].
NOTE: It may be necessary to loosen the lower turnbuckle [3], on the forward
mechanism, to get enough slack in the cable.

(5) Remove the control cable clamp, SPL-1569.

(6) Install the spacers [14] and cable drum guard [28]:
(a) Install the bolts [16] and washers [17] to attach the cable drum guard [28] to the cable drum
[15].
CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE SUPPORT PLATE [25] CORRECTLY. IF THE
SUPPORT PLATE [25] IS NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY, THE AMOUNT OF
TORQUE NECESSARY TO DISENGAGE THE MANUAL CLUTCH CAN EXCEED THE
LIMITS.
(b) Install the support plate [25] correctly.
(c) Install the bolts [26] and washers [27] to attach the spacers [14] to the support plate [25].
NOTE: The bearing assembly of the support plate [25] must be on the same side as the
cable drum [15].
(d) Install the bolt [20], washer [21], washer [22], and nut [23] to attach the cable drum guard
[28] to the support plate [25].

(7) Reconnect the upper turnbuckle [4] after the STA and STB cables are completely rigged.

(8) Adjust the STA cable [6] and STB cable [5]. To adjust them, do this task: Stabilizer Control
Cable and Chain Adjustment, TASK 27-41-00-820-801.

(9) Remove the wrench, SPL-1684 from the jackscrew gearbox [12].
