(b) Extend the trailing edge flaps to get access to the fasteners for the seal retainers [83]. To
extend them, do this task: Extend the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.
(c) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.
(d) Loosen the screws [82] that attach the seal retainers [83] to the fixed lower panel [85].
(e) Move the seal retainers [83] to the correct position.
NOTE: Make sure you move the blade seal [84] and the seal retainer [83] together as a
unit.
(f) Tighten the screws [82] that attach the seal retainers [83].
(g) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Reactivation, TASK 27-51-00-440-801.
(h) Retract the trailing edge flaps to the retracted position. To retract the flaps, do this task:
Retract the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-804.
(i) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.
(j) Make sure the distance between the seam on the inboard flap assembly [2] and the blade
seal [84] is in the limit.

(6) Do a check of the adjustment of the bulb seals [81] on the fixed lower panels [85] (Figure 504):
(a) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Reactivation, TASK 27-51-00-440-801.
(b) Extend the trailing edge flaps to get access bulb seals [81] on the fixed lower panels [85].
To extend them, do this task: Extend the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.
(c) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.
(d) Measure the distance from the aft end of the blade seal [84] to the aft end of the bulb seal
[81].
(e) If the distance between the blade seal [84] and the bulb seal [81] is not in the limit of 1.428
±0.060 inch (36.27 ±1.52 millimeters), adjust the position of the bulb seal [81]:
1) Loosen the screws [96] that attach the bulb seal retainer [97].
2) Adjust the position of the bulb seal [81] and the seal retainer [97].
NOTE: Make sure you move the bulb seal [81] and the seal retainer [97] together as a
unit.
3) Tighten the screws [96].

(7) Measure the gap between the fixed upper panel, outboard of spoiler #6, and the upper surface of
the inboard flap assembly [2 ] .
(8) If the gap between the panel trailing edge and the flap upper surface is not within 0.005 to 0.100
inches (0.127 to 2.54 mm), adjust the upper panelFigure 503:
(a) Loosen the two fasteners common to the serrated plates.
(b) Loosen the lower panel turnbuckle common to the upper panel support beam.
(c) Loosen the bolt [118], washer [119], washer [120] and nut [121] at each end of the upper
panel turnbuckle rod assembly.
(d) Adjust the turnbuckle and serrated plates to set the gap between the panel trailing edge
and the flap upper surface to within 0.005 to 0.100 inches (0.127 to 2.54 mm).Figure 503.
(e) Retighten all fasteners loosened or removed.

(9) Do the following steps to adjust the upper fixed trailing edge panel inboard of spoiler #6:
(a) Loosen the fasteners at each end of the upper turnbuckle rod assembly.
(b) Loosen the fasteners at the panel attach lug.
(c) Loosen the jam nuts on either end of the turnbuckles.
(d) Adjust the turnbuckles to set the gap between the panel trailing edge and the flap upper
surface to within 0.005 to 0.100 inches (0.127 to 2.54 mm).Figure 503.
(e) Retighthen the fasteners at the panel attach lugs and at each end of the upper panel
turnbuckle rod assemblies.
