(5) Remove these panels from the wing to body fairing:

F. Inboard Trailing Edge Flap Removal

(1) Disconnect the skew control rods for the skew mechanisms from the carriages (Figure 401):
(a) At the outboard carriage [13], remove the nut [8], washer [7], washer [5], bolt [4] and
bushing [6] that attaches the skew control rod [3] to the carriage [13].
(b) At the inboard carriage [52], remove the nut [47], washer [46], washer [44], bolt [43] and
bushing [45] that attaches the skew control rod [41] to the carriage [52].

(2) Disconnect the aft flap drive rod [25] from the crankshaft [18]:
(a) Remove the pin [24], nut [23], washer [22], washer [20], bolt [19] and bushing [21] from the
crankshaft [18].
(b) Move the aft flap drive rod [25] away from the inboard flap assembly [1].

(3) If the aft flap [2] is installed, move the aft flap [2] to the retracted position on the inboard flap
assembly [1]:
(a) Move the crankshaft [18] aft until the aft flap [2] is in the retracted position.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE A RIG PIN IN THE CRANKSHAFT TO HOLD THE AFT FLAP IN THE
RETRACTED POSITION. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CRANKSHAFT OR
THE FITTING ON THE MAIN FLAP.
(b) Install the restraint strap (part of the sling, SPL-1729) to hold the aft flap [2] in the retracted
position.

(4) Install the sling, SPL-1729 [82] on the inboard flap assembly [1] (Figure 402):

(a) Remove the existing bolts [85] at the inboard and outboard ends of the front spar on the
inboard flap assembly [1].
NOTE: Keep these bolts [85] for re-installation.
(b) Install the sling fittings [81] in the location of the bolts [85].
(c) Remove the existing bolts [86] at the rear spar at the aft end of the inboard flap
assembly [1].
NOTE: Keep these bolts [86] for re-installation.
(d) Install the sling fitting [84] in the location of the bolts [86].
(e) Connect the sling, SPL-1729 [82] to the sling fittings [81] and sling fitting [84].
(f) Connect the sling, SPL-1729 [82] to a 30 foot height (2000 lbs capacity) lift crane, STD-1095.
(g) Use the sling, SPL-1729 [82] to hold the weight of the inboard flap assembly [1].

(5) Remove the stop fittings from the flap tracks (Figure 401):
(a) On the inboard flap track [39], remove the nut [56], washer [55], bushings [54] and bolt [53]
from the end of the flap track [39].
(b) On the outboard flap track [14], remove the roller stop [30], roller stop [37] and the aft fairing
support fitting [35]:
1) Remove the nuts [29], washers [28], bolt [27] and bolts [36] that attach the aft fairing
support fitting [35] to the flap track [14].
2) Remove the nuts [34], washers [33], washers [32] and bolts [31] that attach the aft
fairing support fitting [35], roller stop [30] and roller stop [37] to the flap track [14].
3) Remove the roller stop [30], roller stop [37] and the aft fairing support fitting [35] from
the flap track [14].

(6) Remove the inboard flap assembly [1]:
(a) Hold the weight of the inboard flap assembly [1] with the sling, SPL-1729 [82] and 30 foot
height (2000 lbs capacity) lift crane, STD-1095.
(b) Disconnect the inboard carriage [52] from the gimbal [40]:
