G. Prepare for the Installation
SUBTASK 27-51-24-820-001
(1) Make sure the bellcrank assembly [17] is the correct length:
NOTE: The length of the bellcrank assembly [17] can be changed to adjust for lateral trim
problems.
(a) Measure the distance between the center of the bolt hole in the adjustment fitting [36] and
the bellcrank assembly [17].
NOTE: This distance is referred to as Dimension A.
(b) Make sure the Dimension A on the bellcrank assembly [17] you will install is the same as
the bellcrank assembly [17] that you removed.
NOTE: The nominal dimension of the inboard bellcrank assembly [17] is 14.56 inches
(36.98 cm). The nominal dimension of the outboard bellcrank assembly [17] is
13.74 inches (34.9 cm).
1) If the inboard and outboard bellcrank assembly [17] are not at the nominal length, they
should both be the same distance from the nominal dimension.
(c) If the bellcrank assembly [17] is not the correct length, adjust the bellcrank assembly [17]:
1) Loosen the nuts [35] on the adjustment fitting [36] until the locking washer [34] is
disengaged from the bellcrank assembly [17].
2) Change the position of the adjustment fitting [35].
3) Engage the locking washer [34] with the bellcrank assembly [17].
4) Tighten the nuts [35] on the adjustment fitting [31].
5) Install lockwire on the nuts [35].
H. Outboard Aft Flap Actuating Mechanism Installation
SUBTASK 27-51-24-420-001
(1) Install the bellcrank assembly [17] on the carriage [18]:
(a) Apply grease, D00633 to the shank of the bolt [29].
NOTE: Make sure you do not get grease, D00633 on the threads of the bolt [29].
(b) Install the bolts [28] in the bellcrank assembly [17].
(c) Put the bellcrank assembly [17] in its position on the carriage [18].
(d) Install the bolt [29] and washer [30] that attach the bellcrank assembly [17] to the carriage
[18].
(e) Carefully clean all of the grease, D00633 from the threads of the bolt [29].
(f) Install the washer [31] and nut [32] on the bolt [29].

(g) Tighten the nut [32] to 760-840 pound-inches (96-121 newton-meters).

(h) Tighten the nut [32] to 240-410 pound-inches (27-46 newton-meters).
GUN ALL
(i) Install the pin [33] in the nut [32].
(j) Attach the rubcap [25] to the bellcrank assembly [17] with the washers [27] and nuts [26].

(2) Connect the aft rod assembly [2] and the forward rod assembly [16] to the bellcrank
assembly [17]:
(a) Apply grease, D00633 to the shank of the bolts [3] and the inside of the bushings [5].
NOTE: Make sure you do not get grease, D00633 on the threads of the bolts [3].
(b) Install the bolts [3], washers [4] and bushings [5] to attach the aft rod assembly [2] and the
forward rod assembly [16] to the bellcrank assembly [17].
