support [52] or the shims [61] on the track support ribs [22].
(a) Remove the rig pins from the bellcranks [51].
(b) Extend the aft flap [2], until you can get access to the fasteners for the shims [57] and [61].
To extend the flaps, do this task: Extend the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.
(c) If it is necessary, change the thickness of the shims [57] on the cove panel supports [52]:
1) Remove the nuts [56], washers [55] and bolts [54] that attach the cove panel [53] to the
cove panel support [52].
2) Remove the shim [57] from the cove panel support [52] and the cove panel [53].
3) Change the thickness of the shim [57].
NOTE: The maximum permitted thickness of the shim [57] is 0.050 inch.
4) Apply sealant, A00247 to the mating surfaces of the shim [57].
5) Put the shim [57] in its position between the cove panel support [52] and the cove panel
[53].
6) Install the bolts [54], washers [55] and nuts [56].
(d) If it is necessary, change the thickness of the shims [61] on the track support rib [22]:
1) Remove the nuts [60], washers [59] and bolts [58] that attach the cove panel [53] to the
track support rib [22].
2) Remove the shims [61] from the track support rib [22] and the cove panel [53].
3) Change the thickness of the shims [61].
NOTE: The maximum permitted thickness of the shim [61] is 0.050 inch (1.27 mm).
4) Apply sealant, A00247 to the mating surfaces of the shims [61].
5) Put the shims [61] in their position between the track support rib [22] and the cove panel
[53].
6) Install the bolts [58], washers [59] and nuts [60].
7) If it is necessary, trim the excess shim [61] that extends past the track support rib [22].
(e) Retract the aft flap [2] until you can install the rig pins in the bellcranks [51]. To retract the
flap, do this task: Retract the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-804.

(f) Install the rig pins in the bellcranks [51].
(g) Make sure the clearance between the main flap [1] and the upper surface of the aft flap [2]
is in the limit.
G. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

(1) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Reactivation, TASK 27-51-00-440-801.
SUBTASK 27-51-26-860-003
(2) Use the primary system to extend and retract the flaps. To extend and retract the flaps, do this
task: Trailing Edge Flap System Operation With Primary Control, TASK 27-51-00-860-801.

OUTBOARD FLAP SUPPORT FAIRINGS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) For the outboard flap support on the outboard flap:
(a) A removal of the forward fairing.
(b) An installation of the forward fairing.
(c) A removal of the aft fairing.
(d) An installation of the aft fairing.
(2) For the inboard flap support on the outboard flap:
(a) A removal of the forward fairing.
(b) An installation of the forward fairing.
(c) A removal of the aft fairing.
