NOTE: Hold the aft flap track assembly [3] or aft flap track assembly [4] in its position
while you install the cartridge assemblies [25].
(d) Install the bolts [23] and washers [24] that attach the cartridge assemblies [25] to the track
support rib [22].

(5) If the aft flap [2] is installed, connect the applicable aft flap track to the aft flap [2]:
(a) Connect the aft flap track assembly [3] to the aft flap [2]:
1) Move the aft flap track assembly [3] until it aligns with the aft flap [2].
2) Apply grease, D00633 to the shank of the bolt [7] and the inside of the bushing [9].
NOTE: Make sure you do not get grease, D00633 on the threads of the bolt [7].

3) Install the bushing [9], bolt [7] and washer [8] that attach the aft flap track assembly [3]
to the aft flap [2].
4) Carefully clean all of the grease, D00633 from the threads of the bolt [7].
5) Install the washer [10] and nut [11] on the bolt [7].
6) Tighten the nut [11] to 65-100 pound-inches (7.3-11.3 newton-meters).
7) Install the pin [12] in the nut [11].
(b) Connect the aft flap track assembly [4], aft flap track assembly [5] or aft flap track
assembly [6] to the aft flap [2]:
1) Move the applicable aft flap track until it aligns with the aft flap [2].
2) Apply grease, D00633 to the shank of the bolt [13] and the inside of the bushing [15].
NOTE: Make sure you do not get grease, D00633 on the threads of the bolt [13].
3) Install the bushing [15], bolt [13] and washer [14] that attach the aft flap track
assembly [4], aft flap track assembly [5] or aft flap track assembly [6] to the aft flap [2].
4) Carefully clean all of the grease, D00633 from the threads of the bolt [13].
5) Install the washer [16] and nut [17] on the bolt [13].
6) Tighten the nut [17] to 130-200 pound-inches (14.7-22.6 newton-meters).
7) Install the pin [18] in the nut [17].

(6) If it is not installed, install the aft flap [2]. To install the aft flap [2], do this task: Outboard Aft Flap
Installation, TASK 27-51-22-400-801.

(7) Lubricate the cartridge assemblies [21] and cartridge assemblies [25] with grease, D00633. To
lubricate the cartridges, do this task: Outboard Main Flap and Aft Flap Roller and Linkage
Lubrication, TASK 12-22-51-640-812.

(8) If the trailing edge flaps are not in the retracted position, retract the flaps:
(a) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Reactivation, TASK 27-51-00-440-801.
(b) Retract the flaps to the retracted position. To retract the flaps, do this task: Retract the
Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-804.
(c) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.
F. Outboard Aft Flap Adjustment

(1) On the inboard and outboard flap supports, install the rig pins in the rig pin holes in the bellcrank
[51] and the flap carriage (Figure 402).
(a) If it is necessary, move the aft flap [2] or the main flap [1] until you can install the rig pins.

(2) Support the aft flap [2] to make sure the programming rollers touch the bottom surface of the
programming tracks and the aft rollers for the aft flap tracks touch the top surface of the tracks.
NOTE: This is the position the rollers will be in with airloads applied to the flap.

(3) Measure the clearance between the main flap [1] and the upper surface of the aft flap [2] (View
C) (Figure 402).
NOTE: Measure the clearance at all of the cove panel supports [53] and at the track support
ribs [22].

(4) Make sure that the rub strip [50] and teflon coating on the upper surface of the aft flap [2] are not
damaged (View C) (Figure 402).
(a) If the rub strip [50] is damaged or missing, then do this task, do this task: Bonded Phenolic
or Stainless Steel Rub Pad Repair (Heat Source Available) , TASK 51-51-00-340-802.
(b) If the telfon coating is damaged, then do this task, do this task: Abrasion Resistant Teflon
Finish Application, TASK 51-21-81-390-801.

(5) If the clearance between the main flap [1] and the aft flap [2] is not in the limit of 0.010 +0.100/-
0.010 inch (0.25 +2.54/-0.25 mm), then change the thickness of the shims [57] on the cove panel
