(b) Apply a layer of grease, D00633 to the mating surfaces of the yoke [4] and the ballscrew
assembly [2].
(c) Put the ballscrew assembly [2] into the yoke [4].
(d) Apply a layer of grease, D00633 to the shank and threads of the bolts [16].
(e) Install the bolts [16], washers [17], washers [18] and nuts [19] to attach the ballscrew
assembly [2] to the yoke [4].
(f) Make sure the ballscrew assembly [2] is installed correctly in the yoke [4]:
1) Turn the transmission [3] until the nut [21] on the U-joint [20] is down.
2) Turn the ballscrew nut [13] until the upstop is 1808 from the upstop [22] on the yoke [4].
3) If the ball returns on the ballscrew nut [13] are not on the outboard side, change the
position of the ballscrew assembly [2]:
a) Remove the nuts [19], washers [18], washers [17] and bolts [16] that attach the
ballscrew assembly [2] to the yoke [4].
b) Turn the ballscrew assembly [2] 1808 in the yoke [4].
c) Install the bolts [16], washers [17], washers [18] and nuts [19].
(g) Tighten the nuts [19].

(3) Connect the ballscrew assembly [2] with the gimbal assembly [14] to the carriage [1]:
(a) Move the gimbal assembly [14] aft on the ballscrew assembly [2] until it is at the downstop.
(b) On transmission No. 1, make sure the ball returns on the ballscrew nut [13] are on the
outboard side.
(c) On transmission No. 8, make sure the ball returns on the ballscrew nut [13] are on the
inboard side.

(d) Apply grease, D00633 to the inside and outside surfaces of the carriage bushing [9] and
carriage bushing [15].

(e) Apply grease, D00633 to the outside surfaces of the carriage bushing [9] and carriage
bushing [15]

(f) Lift the outboard flap until the carriage [1] aligns with the gimbal assembly [14].
(g) Install the carriage bushing [9] and carriage bushing [15] to attach the gimbal assembly [14]
to the carriage [1].
(h) Install the bolts [6], washers [7] and nuts [8] to hold the carriage bushing [9] and carriage
bushing [15] in the carriage [1].
(i) Tighten the nuts [8] to 65-75 pound-inches (7.4-8.4 newton-meters) more than the run on
torque.
