(b) Remove the bolts [14] that attach the access cover [3] and access cover [20] to the aft
fairing assembly [2].
(c) Remove the access cover [3] and access cover [20].

(5) Remove the aft fairing assembly [2]:
(a) Support the aft fairing assembly [2].
(b) Disconnect the aft end of the aft fairing assembly [2]:
1) Remove the nut [30], washer [29], washer [27], bolt [26] and bushing [28] that attach the
drive rod assembly [32] to the carriage [25].
2) Remove the nut [39], washer [38], washer [36], bolt [35] and bushing [37] that attach the
attach beam assembly [33] to the flap track [7].

(c) Disconnect the forward end of the aft fairing assembly [2]:
1) Remove the nut [19] and washer [18] from the pivot bolt [15].
2) Remove the pivot bolt [15], washer [16] and bushing [17] that attach the aft fairing
assembly [2] to the transmission attach fitting [10].
(d) Lower the aft fairing assembly [2] until you can get access to the nuts [11] on the jumper
wires [22].
(e) Remove the nuts [11] and washers [12] that attach the jumper wires [22].
(f) Remove the jumper wires [22] from the studs.
(g) Lower the aft fairing assembly [2].

(6) If you will install a new aft fairing assembly [2], remove the fairing drive linkage from the aft
fairing assembly [2]:
NOTE: The fairing drive linkage includes the drive rod assembly [32], adjust link assembly [41],
adjust rod assembly [42] and the attach beam assembly [33].
(a) Remove the nut [47], washer [46], washer [44], bolt [43] and bushing [45] that attach the
adjust rod assembly [42] to the aft fairing assembly [2].
(b) Remove the adjust link assembly [41] from the aft fairing assembly [2]:
1) Remove the nut [57] and washer [58] from the bolt [62].
2) Remove the bolt [62], washer [63], washer [64] and washers [55].
NOTE: Make a note of the thickness and location of the washers [55].
3) Remove the bushing [60] and bushing [61] from the aft fairing assembly [2].
(c) Remove the nut [53], washer [52], washer [50], bolt [49] and bushing [51] that attach the
adjust link assembly [41] to the attach beam assembly [33].
(d) Remove the nut [30], washer [29], washer [27], bolt [26] and bushing [28] that attach the
drive rod assembly [32] to the attach beam assembly [33].
(e) Remove the nut [47], washer [46], washer [44], bolt [43] and bushing [45] that attach the
adjust rod assembly [42] to the adjust link assembly [41].

(7) If it is necessary, remove the tailcone assembly [67] from the aft fairing assembly [2]:
(a) Remove the bolts [68] that attach the tailcone assembly [67] to the aft fairing assembly [2].
(b) Remove the tailcone assembly [67] from the aft fairing assembly [2].
