G. Flap Power Drive Unit Installation
SUBTASK 27-51-51-860-004
(1) Make sure that this circuit breaker is open and has safety tag:

(2) Make sure the flaps are in the retracted position.

(3) If they are not installed, install the cables [6] on the power drive unit [21]:
(a) Put the cables [6] in their position on the cable drum [34].
(b) Install the pins [33] to attach the cables [6] to the cable drum [34].

(4) Make sure the cables [6] and the cable drum [34] are in the correct position:
(a) Turn the power drive unit [21] until the black rig marks on the cable drum [34] align with the
white cable guard [11] on the power drive unit [21].
(b) Make sure the lower cable [6] wraps around the cable drum [34] 2 to 2 1/2 turns.
NOTE: This is cable WFFA.
(c) Make sure the upper cable [6] wraps around the cable drum [34] 0 to 1/2 turns.
NOTE: This is cable WFFB.

(5) Install the power drive unit [21]:
(a) Put the power drive unit [21] in its position on the structure.
(b) Apply compound, C00913 to the shank and threads of the bolt [7] and bolts [14].
(c) Install the bolt [7], bolts [14], washers [8], washers [9] and nuts [10] to attach the power
drive unit [21].

(6) Connect the cables [6] to the cables [2] for the flap control unit [23]:
(a) Connect the cables [2] and cables [6] at the turnbuckles [4].
(b) Remove the labels from the cables [2].
(c) Tighten the cables [2] to 125 ±10 pounds (556 ±45 newtons).
NOTE: This is an initial cable tension. The cables [2] will be adjusted to their final tension
during the trailing edge flap control system adjustment.
(d) Install the locking clips [3] on the turnbuckles [4].

(7) Connect the torque tubes [12] to the power drive unit [21]:
NOTE: Do not rotate the torque tubes more than 5 spline teeth, in either direction, to the
nearest position where the bolt holes align at the torque tube coupling connection. Do
not rotate the PDU at this step.
(a) Apply grease, D00633 to the coupling sleeve [36].
(b) Put the splined couplings [37] in the coupling sleeves [36].
(c) Install the screws [35] to attach the coupling sleeves [36] to the splined couplings [37].
(d) Install lockwire on the screws [35].

(8) Connect the jumper wire [13] for the electric motor [19]:
(a) Install the screw [15], washers [16] and nut [17] that attach the jumper wire [13].
(b) Make sure the resistance between the jumper wire [13] and the electric motor [19] is less
than 0.4 milliohms.
NOTE: When you measure the resistance, the probe can be closer than 0.25 inches (6.4
millimeters) to the jumper terminal.
(c) Put a fillet seal of sealant, A02315 or sealant, A00247 around the two ends of the screw [15].

(9) Remove the clamp set, SPL-1726 from the torque tubes [12].

(10) Connect the hydraulic lines [1] and the case drain line [20] to the hydraulic motor [22]:
(a) Remove the plugs from the ports on the hydraulic motor [22].
(b) Remove the caps from the hydraulic lines [1].
(c) Connect the hydraulic lines [1] to the hydraulic motor [22].
(d) Remove the cap from the case drain line [20].
(e) Connect the case drain line [20] to the power drive unit [21].

(11) Connect the electrical connector [18] to the electric motor [19].
(12) Do this task:Trailing Edge Flap Power Drive Unit Servicing, TASK 12-22-51-610-801.

(13) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap Control System Adjustment, TASK 27-51-00-820-801.
NOTE: This adjustment will include the final adjustment of the cables WFFA and WFFB.

(14) Remove the rig pin from the flap control unit [23]:

(15) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap Drive System Adjustment, TASK 27-51-00-820-802.

(16) Lubricate the torque tube couplings. To lubricate the couplings, do this task: Trailing Edge Flap
Torque Tube and Torque Tube Support Lubrication, TASK 12-22-51-640-801.

(17) Install the lower pan [25] on the flap control unit [23]:
